Can Anyone Decipher? SVA & Import Question.
Hello all,
I've been meaning to ask for a while now but need a little help in deciphering these. Is the car's auction grade listed on there? I believe they are Japanese auction sheets and looking at the kilometres on each I think it may have been auctioned twice in Japan. The second time being when it was sent over here. This all refers to a Bugeye STI.
Please excuse the poor pictures, phone camera. I will take these to work today and get better shots to upload.
I notice on the last one there is 26,970 km. It was SVA tested in June 2003 and finally registered 14th July 2003. I next have the service paperwork dated 12th March 2005 with the clock reading 31,777 miles. When I bought the car in August 2007 it had just 40,343 miles on the clock.
My biggest question is when going through SVA would the km readings have been converted into miles? So the 26,970 changed to 16,758?
Or would the clock have just been allowed to run on, thereby have the first part in km and all readings after in miles?
What I'm trying to figure out is if the true mileage should be about 10,000 miles lower than displayed or not?
Thanks for any help offered.

That looks like an appraisal sheet, but Ive never seen one from an auction that looks like that and Ive seen thousands. Of course, that could be from an auction that Ive not come across...
A New Age STI will need an electronic convertor, but this will only 'reduce' the speed by a ratio of 1.6:1, it wont affect the odometer reading. It isnt uncomon to 'correct' the digital odometer reading after conversion though, so its hard to be sure. If altered Id expect to find some sort of 'certificate' in the vehicles history. Failing this a careful inspection of the vehicles service history and receipts, looking for an odometer reading taken as close to the registration date as possible may provide the clue that will help you to crack the case...

I was hoping someone like yourself might reply so thanks. I don't have anything earlier than the first service in 2005, well apart from the SVA sheet but no mileage listed.
I think I'll write to the person listed as the customer in 2005 and see if they were the original importer. Do you think the DfT or DVLA might have a note of the mileage when it came to be first registered? That's a job for Monday anyway.
I've seen the electronic convertor you speak of behind the clocks. Does anyone else have anything to add or are we done here?

Doesn't look like the auction sheet for my old Spec C, which is what they normally look like:
TX.
PS - you can see the km's of mine on the auction sheet which was converted to about 8.5k miles when it went through the SVA test so mine ran in miles & read in miles from Day One in the UK.

Thanks for that TX. Does look different from mine, doesn't it? It's probably looking like it may have been converted then. I'll still ask who I believe to be the original owner. It's one of those questions I'd just like answered either way if that makes sense

For anyone previously interested, those two sheets I posted are what appears to be the car's to Shaken tests in Japan! The top left contains the characters for 'vehicle inspection' and Google images appear to back this up.
