Question

Serious Engine Problems??

This would be BAD news for Subaru - with NO recalls to its name YET

Pete

Seriously do you know whats involved? How long does the fix take? I'm booked on a ferry to the continent, don't fancy risking the family being standed in the Alps.

Its just what I have picked up - thought it needed an airing as its own thread

I, personally, have NO idea whatsoever - hence this thread

Banshi,....If you are one of the unlucky ones your family will be blown clean out of the alps - don't worry about getting stranded.

In the US they have recalled the WRX over power steering problems. This was solved under warranty IIRC.

Surely if this was true, all you P1 owners would have had something through the post?
Just a thought.

I'm told there might be a tyre related recall for P1 18" wheel owners (obviously only those who bought the wheels and tyre package), but nothing else.

Cool

Neil - I assume you are referring to me??

You will kindly note my comment on the 3rd post on this thread - as you are obviously too lazy to scroll through and properly read the thread I will paste it here:-

-----------------------------------------------------------------

'Its just what I have picked up - thought it needed an airing as its own thread

I, personally, have NO idea whatsoever - hence this thread'

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I AM a wind-up merchant - but I try NEVER to post anything that may make someone worry about the safety of their car and family - As I had heard things about a recall on P1's I thought I had better open a debate ........... you may have put the concerns to bed - well done, good boy, pat on the back and all that ..... Did you talk to someone who would know, or just Billy the parts person?

All I can say is ............... SELL YOUR P1's THE WORLD IS ENDING!!!!

Pete you should know their parts manager ain't called Billy. I've every confidence in the information source, after all they told me there were only around half a dozen unsold P1s in the network.
Nothing wrong with that.........

.....except the conversation took place in April 2001

...apparently there have been some nasty injuries when people use the rapesco nailer to fasten their front splitter back on again.
However there is no truth in the rumour that the nailer suffers from peeling paint though ;-)

My P1 had some recall work done some time ago. Can't remember what it was though. It was done while the car was in for a service.

It's due a service in a week or two, so I'll keep an eye open. I have the 18" wheels as well.

Regards
Kurt

I think the recall in question is about the tyre fitted to the 18" wheels. The problem is that the side wall of the tyre has been cracking.I beleive there have only been a few cases where this has happened, and from what I can gather,If you purchased your wheels and tyres from a main dealer and this has happened to your tyres, I think subaru will replace them. The best people to speak too,to querry this would be prodrive.I don't think an actual recall is in operation but I'm sure they will be able to tell you more about it.The tyre in question is the p zero.
Hope this is the only recall for the p1.

Cool

I have now checked this recall out with the relevant government departments and the official line is:-

"When a Subaru Impreza is fitted with Gold Wheels of ANY size or make - it IMMEDIATELY informs the car-jacking criminals that a Girlie Male completely devoid of taste and class is in control - it is an east target - and it is affecting the crime figures - it is imperitive, therefore, that these cars be equiped with suitable masculine wheels of the silver/anthracite variety before this government loses the next election ..... purely because some geeks have NO taste whatsoever"

Department of Transport

Pete,

Jealousy is a very dangerous thing.

I know yours is just a standard little UK car that has the desires to be something greater like a P1 or lesser !

Gold wheels would embelish her her much better than those standard(read common) silver ones.

Never mind poor Scoob, your owner has his head firmly in the sand where that is concerned.

Oh well, you can't buy taste can you !!

Steve.
