No model report so how is it done ?
Lets say that I want to import a car from Japan, a 2004/5 or 6 model.
As it is less than 10 yrs old I need an ESVA ( I think )and this requires a model report. The car is from a mainstream manufacturer, say Subaru, but one of their JDM cars, a niche market one. Extensive google search for model report draws a blank. So the conclusion is that I cannot drive one legally here in the UK ?? BUT I have seen them sold here although in very tiny numbers, but through a specialist dealer. So how can a private individual do it, legally and above board, without the model report ( No, I don't want to commission one !)
Cheers and thanks

You need to get a single type approval noise and emissions test and an sva if I remember right, the noise and emissions test was quote a lot and if you failed you'd have to do it over and over again till you passed.
Had this problem with a jdm wrx and it was going to end up costing a fortune, found another route in the end but that was quite dear too

Wait until May. Japanese noise and emmissions standards have been accepted (for cars that have been registered for over six months in Japan) with effect from the end of April; making old E-SVA and model report problems a thing of the past.

I know if they are older than ten years it's just an mot, and model reports were required from a certain year, been a while since I used to import cars, forgotten most of the rules now
