Chaps,
Did anyone watch Driven the other night,
The powerful Porsche,XK8 and the owesome Z8 V8.
Boy what a car, it may not have been too quick of the mark but did you see the how quickly it not only caught up with, and blasted past the two main rivals, leaving them in it`s wake.
The XK was nearly blown sideways as the Z8 ripped past him and the Porsche bowed it`s head in defeat.
Now that`s what you call a real car.
Slightly out of my price range but hey! it gives you something to work for, a reason to get up and go to work.

I missed that one. I usually watch Driven, but it is so unbearably amaturish, and the presenters (with the exception of Plato) are idiots.
After seeing their rendition of Kevin and Perry, I battle to find a reason to watch it, and the way they rate cars for their Drivel 100 is laughable.
Penny "Im so ugly I became a Rally driver" Mallory awards points for such pathetic things, like "I couldnt get my butt to sit comfortably in the seat", regardless of the fact that she has elephantitus of the @ss.
Sorry, little off topic, but that show, who are they trying to appeal to?
Im glad the Z8 showed its worth, its been putting up with a lot of bad press re its price etc. Guess it showed them then.

I liked the way that she so effortlessly propelled the Z8 off the line......NOT.

I thought the total opposite.

I was obviously the worst car upto about 100mph. When the sheer power pushed it past its rivals.

Good if you are given derestricted autobahns to use, but with our draconian speed restrictions not a good choice.

You may well not like Driven (I can understand totally) but it's better than Topgear is now. And worst of all I accidentally caught 'Pulling Power' on Tuesday - now that was just the most ridiculous car program I have ever seen, ever. This stupid woman said how excited she was getting to drive the 'new' Impreza Rally car - yet didnt she realise it was an old shape, group N model !!!!!!!!!! Pathetic.

I missed Driven this week - would like to see this article on the Z8 though.

Yeah, so where the hell are the good car shows? cars are more popular than ever, and yet we have to put up with divy presenters who wouldnt have a clue what the hell just ran them over, never mind provide us with useful car opinions.
I wouldnt mind so much if the presenters were nice looking woman, cause you could forgive them for not being terribly car literate, and still enjoy watching the show, but they cant even get that right!!

That last comment probably sounds a little more sexist than it should, take with grain of salt please.

I`m affraid chaps our only option these days is to buy the latest video releases, and watch the likes of Jeremy Clarkson or tiff Neadel (did i spell that right...probably not?)use and abuse the finest of vehicles the manufacturers let them loose with.
burn the rubber and give us some more sideways action Jezza.
As for the Z8....£80,000...errr I`ll have two please!.

Exclamation

Etheridge-Bird & co.

I think it was the XKR the pitted it against.

I have the clip on video, but no video capture card in my PC.

Cool

Just do the maths

£58000 = M5 (+ £22000 to do with what you will - Impreza turbo anyone?? )

£80000 = Z8 (no creature comforts but the same I've got s*** loads image)

Surely only one answer to that?? Hell why not wait for the new M3 or just buy a TVR

If you do know them and have a chat, please tell Penny to stop squealing all the time as if she is a frightened school girl, when Jason Plato drives her - she must have done alot worse in rally cars !!!

0-30 was the porsche by miles.
the Z8 was only just moving by that point
porsche was a 4x4 dont forget, so all the power was used for launch not like the Z8 that used it for james bond type smoke effects.

Hi Guys,

Did you check the bit where they drove the car with traction control on, then off ? Even the boat like Jag howled sideways, looks like fun !

I will no doubt be seeing Penny and Mike soon so I will pass on all your interesting comments.
Belive me Penny may not be a Tommi but she would run rings round most of you on here.
And Mike would probably flogg your car before you even realised he`d done it.

Hows that then Aaron, they friends of yours?
If so, ask them if they would be prepared to give up their prime time TV slot to have perhaps an Evo show, or even a new Lewellen Bowen Changing Bathrooms show would be more bearable, anything, but preferably about cars.
Oh, and dont tell Penny I said she was ugly, cause those years of rally driving must have built her arms up a tad, and she'll probably be inclined to give me a good public kicking, and there is just no cool way to tell your friends you just got beat up by a girl.
PPS: if they genuinly are friends of yours, the comments are made purely on the basis of their car journo and TV presenting skills, not on them as people, so dont take offense.

Last year I filmed the Driven features on hybrid cars (Toyota Prius and Honda) with Penny and the crew. Its easy to sit here and take the p*ss but I have to tell you that she is a consumate professional as well as a lovely person.

I agree that none of the tv motoring programs are quite what they were. What really p*sses me off is when some tw*t on top gear has two tasty cars on the gravel frontage of a stately home and then spins the wheels of one thus pebbledashing the other. To do this you need the skills of a moron, the brains of an ameba and a total disregard for other peoples property. Is there any wonder noone wants to lend them decent cars ?
