Okay, so some people have admitted to some Sport Snobbery.
Everyones entitled to their own opinions, but it intrigues me as to the basis of this snobbery. In general it appears to be a minority.
Not trying to start a flame war, just interested in peoples point of view

I know people with Sports, and tend to give them a wave. When I don't, it's because I tend to get a much lower hit rate with Sport owners than Turbo owners... Waved at one a couple of days ago in Silverstone, and got a wave back (Mica Red MY99 or MY00) Generally, though, you just get blank looks..
Some sports are obviously enthusiasts though - check out Grahame May's car, with it's different wheels, etc etc and lots of stickers

Would have to agree
It is a Subaru Enthuasiast website where all brands should be treated equally with respect. It is bad enough when people start putting other car makes down, such as the Evo and Skyline...
DJ you just have to remember that The Impreza Turbo and yes even the Sport is NOT the greatest car in the world by most means IMHO also but we have to remember that it is to some owners ie their pride and joy .
Osama.

Osama, I agree (although not with your poilical regimes). I am a car fan, not just Subaru or any other make for that matter.
If its got wheels I wanna go in it

I always wave at Sports but I'm still waiting for one to wave back At the end of the day it boils down to the fact that not every Sport owner is an enthusiast and judging by the amount of waves I get back from Turbos neither are they but I don't care, I will bravely soldier on waving in the face of adversity
Actually I'll acknowledge any nice car with a nod or a drool in their general direction

It's probably the same people that think their scoob is better than Cossies, BMWs, TTs etc etc. These people will never have any appreciation of any other car (including other scoobs) and will always have to go one better than everyone else. I believe 'Nobbers' is the term associated with them...

I have a Sport and have had for the last 2 years. One day it will grow into a turbo (at least another year I think). I always wave at everyone coz I'm such a cheery soul - not that many responses though. Was beginning to get an inferiority complex - hence the lack of posts. At least I now know you don't all look down on us lowly Sports from the wonderful world of turbodom!

I am sure it is mainly down to that most Sport drivers don't wave back.
I do wave at Sport driver but have only had one wave back.
Or perhaps it is like the bike and moped thing.. you never nod at a guy on a moped but at every bike be it another blade or a CBR250..... dunno why...

Grahame May's dyno run is on the dyno site (dyno.scoobynet.co.uk) on the Clive Atthowe page. I don't think Grahame's car has a posting in the Member's Gallery page and with search being down I can't find one You could always e-mail him in case he's got a picture! I've found this old one from a Cambridge meet a while back:
Grahame's is the blue 5-door behind Dave T-S's black machine. Unfortunately you can't see the wheels etc...
Here's another one from our Grafham Water run:
As you can see it has nice gold wheels and I think lowered suspension? Email gmay@eagle.org (I think). He hasn't posted on here for ages so he probably won't notice this one.
Also, John Felstead has a Sport (to go with his MAD Westie and he very much enjoys it!
Cheers

Where is the thread that sez sports = snobs? (This one being called Sport Snobbery cont i asume there must be a part 1? ).
I usually wave. Only time I dont is when I dont notice the other car. I'm quite absent minded, and usualy see you too late and think 'Damn, should have waved'. Its the same when i'm not in the car and pass peeps in the street!
I will try harder. Promise.

Just a quicky - I drive a sport and i always wave (unless I'm half asleep and miss one..)
Gives me a nice warm glowing feeling if I get a wave back.. (or is it the heater playing up??)

Hi all
As Bitten Hero said, I am very much an enthusiast. My Sport has been modified as follows:
Scoobysport back box, ITG panel filter, 16" gold wheels with Hankook tyres, Eibach springs (lowers car by 30mm), EBC grooved discs, EBC greenstuff pads, Goodridge braided brake hoses, Sparco strut brace, Pivot shift light, tinted rear screen and boot space side windows, P1 mud flaps, aluminium effect dash kit, Scooby Doo logoed number plates, STI pink "i" bonnet badge and finally, a must have - side visors.
My experience at various Scooby gatherings has been very good - we are all Impreza owners who love the breed.
