Default Car Diagnostic Code Reader !!!

hi,just wondering i have a 2002 sti type uk,and the cel light has come on (again),ive heard alot about getting your own Car Diagnostic Code Reader,but which one,theres loads,ive found one on ebay,dos anyone reckon this one will be ok,as i dont want to buy the wrong one,thanks,lewis

Not sure if this will help/work but you can get a program for free called ecuexplorer, you would just need a cable then.

Might be worth googling.

thanks boro,yes i seen that link on here before,but trying to get hold of the lead is expensive,so thought the product on ebay should work and half the price, by the way ,where in cornwall you too,as live in good old sunny hayle,. lewis

Currently have the Scangauge II which has the ability to look up fault codes and also reset the ECU. But can then be used to monitor things such as MPG, IA Temp, Battery voltage etc.... Nice piece of kit.

Agree with Jpor the scanguage II Is a great and relatively inexpensive way of resetting CEL Lights and fault codes as well as keeping a eye on important bits

ive got the elm327 used it a few times now so paid for itself, (not on a scoob though)

A PSI3 would offer similar functionality and can be dash or pod mounted. Not sure if their website is back up yet but I may a have a picture of one in My Scooby<<<<

hi

i bought one of these

U380 OBD2 EOBD OBD 2 diagnostic code Reader Scanner on eBay, also, Diagnostic Tools Equipment, Garage Equipment Tools, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 30-Jan-09 00:35:57 GMT)

has saved me loads in code resets, and gives you piece if mind finding what the problem may be straight away and without having to take it to the garage.

As above i bought a second hand psi3 off here with the dash pod for £70 have it fitted in my 2002 sti prodrive paid for its self already and handy for the sensor displays .

that psi3 sounds good,cause like you say i want one whichs also tells me wot the sensors are doing,as im sure one has gone down,but i dont which one,will save alot of money,

anybody know a cheap place to find the psi3 or scanguage?,

If you permanently connect the Scangauge, where can it be mounted so it is not loose and potentially rattling or bouncing about? (would prefer somewhere below dash level).
