Oh well, got to look on the bright side, at least tomorrow night there wil be plenty of and

Thanks in advance for your help because I won't be able to reply for a while

PS

Best of luck

I have no idea what to say, wibble probably wouldn't be appropriate, but it does us muppets when we are lost for words

Congratulations in advance

Michelle.

I can here them words ringing out now "You think more of that car than you do of me"

confetti.co.uk has some good tips on it.

For the groom, you just thank everyone, perhaps follow with a short (SHORT) anecdote, toast the bridesmaids (IIRC) and sit down.

People love brevity.

Also, if you want to try a joke, do. People will laugh at anything in this situation. When I was best man, I started with the traditional "Queen mother"[*] gag, and one Grandfather had to wipe champagne from himself...

Nick[*] "Being asked to be best man is a little like being asked to make love to the queen mother. You're sure it's a great honour, but you're not quite sure you want to do it"

Madman,

You shouldn't worry too much as all you have to do in your speech really is thank the brides maids and say they look stunning but just complemented your gorgeous bride and something about her dress being better than you imagined, thats it really...
You don;t have to be funny although a comment about what the best man is going to say something silly like "I would just like to remind <bestmans name> that it was always my intention of choosing him to be my best man and that he is the kind of guy you can rely on to be sensible with a speach, I hope... and I'll get you another drink if you skip over most of my life so far" or something silly.

There are a number of websites, if you use the a search engine like www.lycos.co.uk with the UK only switched on you should find something searching for Bestman speach or something and there should be sites for both best man and grooms speaches.
Either than or search for wedding.
If you write your speech out word for word and then read it a number of times and then put key points on to small cards to prompt you to speak about them. Then you are not reading word for word and you can speak looking like you know what you are talking about just with the odd prompt from a card.

Good luck and hope you have a nice day and a lovely honeymoon, if it is anything like my wedding the day will be over very quickly.

Best of luck

JGM

PS: Thought it was about time you had a serious reply

Might be of help.

Or you could just tell a few off colour jokes!

Like the bogus telegram:
A telegram has arrived for the Bride, the carpet delivery company have a problem with the carpets you ordered, they will not be arriving until next week, but all going well you should get your underfelt tonight

Or If the Groom is a nautical type - a telegram from the coastgaurd requesting that he report his speed and position at midnight.

Cool

http://www.confetti.co.uk/weddings/a...oom_speech.asp

I'm getting married in June, so I'm well aquainted with this site!! Havn't read the grooms speech bit, but if there's not anything useful check out the links, they've been quite good to me

Oh - and you will get the "you spend more time with the car" thing, I do and I'm not married yet!

Hope all goes well! If it helps I'm nervous and I've got..er..3 1/2 months!

Sure you'll have a great time Btw, Scooby's make great wedding cars - we've got blue ribbons and two silver turbo's lined up

Good luck!
