Andy,

Nice info.

where did "the reviews" come from (and can we get the bog-standard Bridgestone RE010's included for a comparison).

Cheers,

mb

I think people are refering to them as SO1's for some reason, I will check back with the reveiwers, I am going to add links to pages on each tyre with the reviewers name and comments. Just wanted to get a feeling as to if this was what people wanted.

Cool

I have done a bit more tarting up and added link from the table to the individual comments pages for each tyre type. Also added the tyres I had missed out and renamed the OE Bridgestone to reflect the correct name.

I still need more input though. Email please.

Thanks Andy

Hi Andy

Nice idea but I have some questions.

1)Are the tests objective or are they just based on the personal opinions of the BBS's members?
2)How come the ratings can be so different for the same tyre in different size?

Thanks

I agree with Young Ged. It does seem strange that the scoring differs so much particularly between the PZero's in 17" & 18". It is noticeable that only one person has reviewed for 18".

I guess this will only become meaningful once there is enough revires to iron out anomolies !

Useful info though !

Thanks for comments guys I will fix the link tonight. The scores are purely based on information supplied by others so some of it is subjective. Can only go on the feelings people have and the more input I get the better the overall scores will reflect the tyre perfomance.

Hello, Nice work..

Could you do a Tyre FAQ?

Like what do all the numbers mean, what are the different speed ratings pressure issues.

I have only ever seen this info in a mag once or twice and it is usefull stuff to a beginner.

The table is a great start but there has to be a slight tweaking of the numbers.
To make my point I scored using your numbers on the 3 tyres I have used and came up with the following. There has to be some comparative analysis to make these meaningful. So as a starter for 10 I can give you this.

17" Marshals vs 17" Yoko A520

Marshals

Grip Dry - 3; Wet Grip - 1; Road Noise - 4; Mileage - 5; Cost 4; Progression on break away - 4

Total = 21

A520
Grip Dry - 4; Wet Grip - 4; Road Noise - 2; Mileage - 4; Cost 2; Progression on break away - 4

Total = 20

My Verdict A520 much better.

Yoka A520 vs P Zero - 17"

Yoka A520

Grip Dry - 4; Wet Grip - 4; Road Noise - 2; Mileage - 4; Cost 2; Progression on break away - 4

Total = 20

PZero

Grip Dry - 5; Wet Grip - 4; Road Noise - 4; Mileage - 3; Cost 2; Progression on break away - 4

Total = 22

My Verdict Pzero better

So my suggestions would be:
Add one further column for overall driver rating.

If I done this the
Marshall would get 2; A520 4 and PZero 4.
This would then reflect my true feelings.

1- PZero
2 A520
3 Marshall

Sorry to ramble but I am trying to be constructive.

Also a number have asked about tyre pressures, I can add them no problem but what do "YOU" recommend ?

Thanks

Wink

JC,

My formula is (WG*DG)/(RN+M)*(C+B)

Which is A520 = 16
Pzero = 17
Marshals = 3

Not an exact science but I tried a few different formula and this seems to give the expected results on S02's and the OEM bridgestones.

Thanks for comments though.

Andy

Thanks Pete,

I had just finished a 2 hour endurance race and the wife thought it made me look like an old man. I put it on there as its the only recent picture with out a crash helmet on.

On the site, it's got a review for the Pirelli PZero in 18", but I thought Nito ran the P7000's!!!

Might be worth double checking!

Andy,

Good site.

Can you include 15" tyres for those of use still running the original 'old, old' cars (or can you not find anyone with these wheels still on )?

Cheers

The tyre safty chaps have an OK site BUT you have to email them to send you a leaflet about the size and speed ratings. Which is silly becuase that would be easy to show online?

I have this info myself, but it is diagram from a magazine so is copyright.

DOH!

Andy,

I am going to fix this at the weekend. In fact I may take out ones with single reviews as the data is not that objective.

We will see.

I have had no input for 15" wheels yet. Need to get a few before it is worth doing.
