Default Best Subaru Tuning Company to use??

Hi Guys,

I have just purchased a 2006 Subaru WRX and want to get a bit more power out of it?

I was thinking of maybe the following options. What do you think is best?

*ECU Remap
*Headers
*Performance Cat
*Stainless Steel Pipe
*Performance Filter (Replacement)
*Maybe uprated fuel pump.

Who is the best most experienced tuners to use for advice and remap. I dont want to use just anybody incase it causes more harm!!

I have heared of Andy Forrester, CPL, RE Motorsports??

Also does anybody know where i can get a reasonably priced performance cat, headers and exhaust from. I dont want rubbish though. However, i dont want to pay over the top???

Any advice would be much appreciated?

Cheers

Out of interest how much did he charge you for remap?

I would use Andy Forrest for mapping as he is one of the best and was very impressed with his work.

Exhaust i would go for 3".
Filter i would go for a green cotton filter.
Fuel pump, defo a Walbro 255ltr.

As Rob said, see scoobyworld
Welcome to Scooby world

And here is Andy Forrest.

Andy only does mapping he doesn't actually work on customers cars as far as I'm aware.

Although his mapping is exceptionally good.

There are plenty of good tuners that will do the work that have had good reputations. I'll list a few that I'd be happy to use but this is by no means exhaustive.

Roger Clark Motorsport (Leicester)
Zen Performance (Wellingbrough)
Area 52 Autosport (Nottingham)
Engine Tuner (plymouth)
API (Warwickshire)
Tracktive/Carnetix (two companies same building Melton Mowbray)

I have a Miltek 3in turbo back system including a performance cat (that will get you through the MOT). It was supplied by Litchfield/Power Station. They also remapped the car using ECUTEK and did a good job.

They are based in Cheltenham.

If I was to pick a tuner I would really trust it would be AFP, Zen or RCM is rising order of potential cost!

Mine was done at PowerStation Tewksbury (Nr Cheltenham), 3in full system with sports cat (has passed an MOT but needs to be hot!), K & N Panel filter, Magnex de-cat up pipe, uprated fuel pump, 2 port boost solenoid and EcuTek remap (on rolling road) view my profile to see the results. Can't really fault them in anyway, not the cheapest mind but bloody good results.

Depends where you are I reckon, as already said, there are a number of reputable tuners out there and no doubt some that shouldnt be touched with a barge pole.

+1 for RE motorsport here though - i've had that sort of work done on my wrx, can't fault it!

I'm sure that the company's mentioned would be first to suggest a "solution" not just more power = more speed.

imho

Hi guys!

Thanks for all your advise, i appreciate your help!

I will begin with buying a full exhaust system and new filter.

I am thinking of buying either a Blitz Nur Spec or Vortex Exhaust from Scooby world?? What do you guys think?

I would rather have an exhaust which sounds nice but is not too loud!!

Anybody know where the Cats are on the new WRX 2.5. Is it the same as the older models??

You have the down pipe and the up pipe and headers i believe??

Is it worth changing the up pipe and headers?? As far as i can remember you are not suppost to decat newer models or change headers without a remap as it can cause harm to the engine?? Maybe i dont know what i am talking about LOL!! thats why i need your advice!!

I think Scooby World do a performance cat for the new model and maybe headers. Anybody know where else i can get some good quality performance cat and headers??

I live in Hull (East Yorkshire) by the way!! I dont mind travelling though to get a good job done!! Especially on my pride and joy!! I am sure you guys know what i mean!!

If you don't want an exhaust that is too loud then the NUR Spec R is NOT the exhaust for you. I have one and it won't meet any trackside noise regs!!

Another is Penine Subaru (Hebden Bridge, W.Yorkshire) Chy is a top mapper and a top bloke too! He came on fifth gear with their rocket powered jet engined go kart! they do some serious big power builds over there and know what they are talking about. Not too far from hull, very reasonable price and they will put all the bits on for you too.

Ditto the comments above about the Blitz Nur Spec, fantastic exhaust, very well put together but has to be one of/if not the loudest exhausts you can buy.

Had one on my bugeye and loved it, the neighbours didn't It was so loud I used to push the car out of the garage as it made the entire street shake, lol.

Tsl, great sales patter, great to take your money when the going's good.

I spent £16K with them one year and when it all went wrong ( albiet through no fault of their own) when they found out I was finally skint they wouldn't give me an accurate price for dropping in an engine I sourced.

Bit of a kick in the teeth after spending all that cash with them.

Not long afterwards, the then Technical Director and the two top mechanics went to set up Tracktive (Richard Bulmer) and Carnetix (Glen and Becky)

My honest advice if you want great honest service without the smooth BS then look at the other tuning companies before TSL

prepare to be bombarded with 100 different names, and then 100 different people saying don't go there go here lol

personaly i use scoobyclinic, but API, Roger Clark, Pennine are all good.

certain other tuners i wouldn't use but not gonna say cos it'll cause a slagging match which i should think this thread will turn into anyway
