Anyone fitted a bee-sting aerial
#1
Thinking of getting a Bosch amplified bee-sting aerial fitted on the rear of the roof cos the radio reception is so crap. Anyone had this done - if so did it make much of a difference (other than to the look of the car!). Price I've been quoted is ~£45 +VAT (the aerial is ~£35 + VAT).
What did you do with the old aerial - leave it there but not extended or have it removed and the hole filled and painted - if so how much was it.
Cheers
Dave

I would be interested to see the outcome of this - ie a picture of a Scooby with a bee sting style aerial fitted, as I've thought of the same idea as I really hate the silly manual aerial.
Anyone good with photoshop / adobe Illustrator that can provide pics ?

We just fitted 1 about a month ago, aeriel cost £25 and fitted it myself. Really easy, you've just got to take your time, especially
the measurements. Hardest part is taking the roof lining down, I only free'd up 1/2 of it, too much trim to take off for all the roof lining. Actually fitting the aeriel took around 30mins including drilling, use a really small drill then work upto 13mm, though check the thread size 1st different aeriels may differ. Put plenty of sealant on "both" sides of the holes, and don't tighten too much as you'll buckle the roof!! I'll post a picture tomorrow.
As for the old aeriel, ours was an elecy 1(import) and siezed up, so got a mate to remove, fill, and spray, jobs a good un'

Like Mossman, mine's part of my DAB setup, so I still use the pillar aerial for RDS Traffic info.
I've just popped the car outside to get some pics, but the street lighting's not very good.
Email me tomorrow, and I'll get some decent pics, but for now...
Martin.

Ours is just the same, just been up in the pennines, and no different to the elecy one, in fact a lot quicker in finding the station automatically than the elecy one.
