Oulton: As A Spectator
#1
Now Then,
Myself, Geezer, Chrissy and Gary were spectating for awhile at the Oulton Park meet on Saturday. This was about mid-day to 1 o'clock and we were speccing at lodge (which mean't we missed the Listers event).
The exit from Lodge was indeed very slippy and something (perhaps before we arrived) had pulled a lot of mud onto the track surface.
This was the first track day I'd attended so apologies to all that I never got to meet as We didn't have much time and I had my daughter with me (who is only three).
Visually, it had to be said that Stef looked very quick, later on the brakes than anyone else into Lodge, and carried a lot of speed though he did have a 'grassy moment'.
PTMW was also deceptively quick, especially when we started to clock him against some of the others. There were a couple of Elise's and an Exige (spelling?) that looked rapid. There were others but I can't remember the car details.
The Lister new shape car did indeed spin and had a moment on nearly every lap at Lodge. It seemed to be very nervous on the track, unless it was the driver, and was involved in a three car spin that looked like it would end in tears!!
I'd heard a rumour later on that John Felstead had worn out his brake pads. This didn't surprise me as it looked like he had them on all the way round the track . His car did look massively quick though.
I mean't to stay and talk to a few owners of cars I recognised, Harj.....MTR.....PTMW etc but daughter got very cold and we ran out of time.
It looked like a good day though and Geezer (and I want this on record), has stated he will wheel out his MY00 on the next localish track day. (I wait with baited breath)

Oohh,
I didn't arf wanna get out onto thet track!!!!! I probably would have been woefully slow and been off several times, but it's taking part that counts, right?
Like blubs says, it was unfortunate that we didn't get to meet anyone, but I had to get back sharpish and poor little Holly (blubs offspring) was freezing to death, poor thing.
It was nice to meet Chrissy and Gary though, and we did meet Stef very briefly as he was just about to go out on track. He did look mightily quick in CK1 though, alhtough I see on ohter posts he has kept quiet about his foray into the grass at Lodge!
There were some very quick people on track, I was quite impressed. I did seek out Mr Felstead to take him up on his offer, but I couldn't find him at the time. Glad I didn't as his brakes were sh@gged!!! Maybe next time John.
Hopefully we will be able to make to another one, or the next Oulton one, and meet some people this time!!!

blubs/geezer.
My little excursion.....ah, yes.
Well, I decided that my car was just tooooooo clean and simply had to have a bit of scenery stuck to it!
Seriously, Lodge is a very tricky corner and it was very slippy for most of the day. I simply overdid it on that occasion. I'm sure if I hadn't learned what I have from driving on track I too would probably have ended up in the kitty litter or worse. One of the most technical corners I've ever driven, that's for sure.
Glad you were entertained though!
Stef.
