Default Is this a Prodrive

Hi,

I am looking at a 2002 STI and it says Prodrive on the log book. Does this mean it has a Prodrive Performance Pack? Or could it just be styling?

The guy selling the car is not sure? He had a guy ask him if it says Prodrive on the exhaust, however, this car has a Scorpion Exhaust??

How can you tell it is a Prodrive car for sure?

Cheers

Check for a blue intercooler pipe and if possible ask to see the ECU, it should be marked by prodrive. You could always ring prodrive with the reg number.

If is got PPP it will have a certificate i would go though any paperwork to see if the owner has it,i did read somewhere that you can ring Prodrive/Subaru and ask but i could be wrong.

It will be the styling pack only as the PPP is put on after the car is bought. It should have big rear wing, skirts a bit sculpted, deep front bumper with different grill. Big covers were the fog lights are with Sti on them - then it is the styling pack. It could still have the PP put on afterwards but without the cert to prove it then is worth no extra as it does not even have the correct exhaust.

It will be just styling I feel mate - worth more I recon - my 02 plate was this aswell and is much more desirable as you can get exhaust and remap done anywere with better results, but prodrive kit really improves the bugs looks.

If it says Prodrive Edition on the log book it's all styling, PPP is sold to customer after registration at extra cost. Cheaper to re-map by Ecutek, and gains are greater !

Prodrive style ......... if it's a UK car then it will look like this.

http://www.iwoc.co.uk/images/cluster...d1/stiuk03.jpg

Darker lights, diiferent grille and bumper, STi rear wing.

Styling mods only though.

Don't worry if not sticker on it - on all 2001+ imprezas the PPP was (apart from exhaust, cat etc) only to recalibrate the ecu. Only on the classic cars was the ECU actually changed for an Sti one, by prodrive themselves. ?The new ones are flashed at your dealer.

Mine has a sticker on the drivers visor, but I suppose this sticker could be placed anywhere by the dealer fitting the PPP?

Ive got the same sticker stuck in my service book. PPP'd cars have a Prodrive certificate with the cars reg and chassis number on it. The biggest visual giveaway to the PPP is the replacement silencer with Prodrive stamped on it as opposed to STI.

Personally when I was negotiating buying mine, I called Prodrive with the VIN number (this can be easily found with just the reg if you havn't seen the car therefore don't have the VIN at hand).

They confirmed over the phone that the PPP had been fitted.

Peace of mind in my view, as anyone can add the rear silencer and state it is a PPP car.

My 2002 bugeye has prodrive on the logbook but doesn't have that bumper, grill and came with a standard exhaust on it and no rear wing.
Any ideas why it would be written in my logbook?

Here's the std look STi:
http://www.supercarsite.net/view?src...40&height=1500

Here's the Prodrive style STi and also describes the PPP which was an extra on top of the Prodrive style:
http://www.prodrive.com/up/02MY%20STi%20PPP.pdf

If the V5 says its a Prodrive but it doesn't look like the above then:
- there's been a ****-up on the V5
- a previous owner has put on std bits
- something dodgy going on.

Check teh VIN with IM or Prodrive
