First I've seen too. Its a V4 STI not a 5.

Could be a respray but if it is its a very good job.

Didn't the STI have a rear wiper?

Agree entirely with Edd above, I've never seen a green STi before.

At a glance it does appear to have the right bits in the right places, but I'm fairly sure they never did the STi in green.

Perhaps GC8 would like to comment?

An STI would have a rear wiper. An STI RA doesn't AFAIK. It looks like its got a diff control wheel by the hand brake (little white oblong bit)

Its also got 2 pots on the rear which STI RAs have - I don't think all STIs have 2 pots on the back.

Although an STI RA should have a roof vent

Also the interior door cards lower half is bright grey not dark and the carpet is bright grey also.

I think its a heinz 57

Edit - The blurb says its got DCCD. God knows what it was but I'd be amazed if thats how it rolled off the line.

Not a 100% on it. I tracked it down today. Its a pre-face classic, totally de-badged except for the 'STi' on the front wings. Its on a 'N' plate.
By first impression, it look like an STi, but its easy to fake them.

I dont know the guy that owns it, but if I come across it again I will try to get some info about it.

if the history is good then it's a well modified Impreza and someone has gone to the effort of getting the DCCD and close ratio box fitted.

Could be a good buy for someone

Not even an sti radiator by the looks.
Thought the only colours they made classic STI's in were

DBM
sonic blue
cool grey
Mica black?
white
yellow

(think thats it?)

Think RB5s have a bulkhead behind the rear seats. There used to be discussion on why RB5s have it and other UK cars don't.

Think someone has bought a written off V4 STI RA put all the goodies into a MY98 UK car - judging by the light grey inside it was probably a sport or lower.

No, no no no no and NO

Classic Sti's, 22b's, RB5's etc DO NOT HAVE A 'FIXED' REAR BULKHEAD!!!

All they have is fixed rear seats and a bar across the back to stop the backrest collapsing, They do have a plastic bulkhead sheet and sound inisulating rubber faced mat to cover all this up and to the uninitiated this looks like a fixed bulkhead, but it isn't. The shell is no stronger on any classic apart from the 22b which came seam welded from the special production line it was assembled on.

How do I know this for a fact? I've worked on all types of classic Sti's, 22b's and RB5's over the years including taking the seats out. I even took the seats out of my girlfriends RB5 while she still had one to prove the point to her!

My own classic UK car now has fixed rear seats as a weight saving measure

As for the 'Green Sti' it looks like someone has taken the running gear from an Sti4, possibly a Type R and fitted it in a GL shell. The carperts and door cards are from an MY98 GL, the seats and dash from an MY98 Sti but they forgot the soundeadening and plastic sheet 'bulhead' that should cover up the rear seat backrest.

Thanks guys for all your positive input!

The Car is from Japan originally and came to the uk via Cyprus,(were i lived for 5 years)
I used to own a type RA before this one.
I think there is some confusion behind the car?? all the bits i have stated in the add are 100% true
it isnt a re-shell
it isnt a uk car with engine transplant
it does have a dccd
and it is mint!
The front bumper is a ?? tho.
if any one who is local to me who has vast knowlege of the old (and the best) Subarus they are welcome to come round for a chat and a beer (if there is any in the fridge)
I also have a friend who used to work for the subaru rally teams who has seen this car and gave it a full inspection he says its one of the best he has seen!

Thanks
Stu
P.S cool site now added to my faves!
