WRX Turbo - question about year
Hi,
Im looking at a car advertised on a website as a Subaru Impreza WRX Sport Wagon (2003) 52 Reg - but im a little confused:
a) Is this the Estate model, not the Sport Wagon model, seeing as the sport wagon model didn't come out until 2005?
b) The registration is 52 - according to my Parkers guide, the WRX Turbo's first registration was 03. I can't find a 52 Reg Turbo model in the guide. Im pretty sure this is the Turbo model because I phoned up and they said the emissions are 219 g/km. Plus it says turbo in the ad.
c) Price looks high at £6450 - anyone else agree? Parkers has an 03 model at £5,750 from independent dealer, which this is.
d) The 'face lift' model i.e. not the bug eye model - when did they stop doing the bug eye? I thought the face lift was 2004 onwards only - so again confusion about the year & model.
I just feel like Im missing something with this car. Keen to go and see it but thought i'd get some advice from the enthusiasts first
Cheers
Brad

a) The Estate and 'Sport Wagon' are the same thing. Some people don't like the word 'Estate'. Many manufacturers do the same thing.
b) The WRX Turbo has been made since about 1993. This one is a 2003 model and is defo a turbo. It was registered either late 2002 or early 2003.
c) Have a good search on Autotrader and Pistonheads. This looks like a nice car, but I would want to pay about £5500 for it, especially at a time like now.
d) The 'blobeye' facelift was for the '03 model (which this is). There are some 52 plate bugeyes. This must be one of the 1st of the facelift.

I went to see it this afternoon. Nice car, but they're not shifting on price, which I found quite odd seeing that its about a grand too much.
Interestingly, not only does this car not show up on my Parkers guide, but it also didn't show up on Glass or CAP when the lady in the showroom checked it out. She said some cars 'just dont book'.
Think i'll give this one a miss.

The Parkers value is about £5200 with 50k miles, so looks overpriced:
2003/52 Subaru Impreza Estate 2.0 WRX AWD Turbo 5d Valuation - Parker's
Don't know what you mean about it not being in any price guide as it a straightforward 2003/52 wrx estate/wagon.
2003/52 Subaru Impreza Estate 2.0 WRX AWD Turbo 5d Valuation - Parker's

My price guide goes as follows:
IMPREZA ESTATE (00-05)
2.0 WRX 4WD 5d
00/X 3,645
01/Y 4,010
01/51 4,160
02/02 4,835
02/52 5,025
2.0 WRX AWD Turbo 5d
03/03 5,765
03/53 5,980
04/04...etc up to
05/55
So this one being a 2.0 WRX AWD Turbo 5d plated at 52 doesn't appear in the guide. The woman in the showroom looked for it in her CAP & Glass guides too and couldnt find it.
Cheers for the autotrader shout
