Default Can someone help confirm...

Evening all,

Can someone please help me confirm that uk gearbox's- TY754VN1AA and TY754VN5AA are both identical. I have a uk my99 and my current 1AA box is on its way out. Ive just came across the 5AA box (from a 2004 uk wrx) and remember reading that they have the same ratio's.

I would be very grateful for all help received

If it's any help to you I went from a TY752VN5BA to a TY752VN6AA with no issues on a UK MY97. Was assured that all three UK boxes of that era are cross compatible tho no one seems to know what the differences are.

As a cross check I noted several speeds at common UK speed limits and recorded the revs in different gears. On rechecking after the box replaced found that everything was the same. Good confidence check

Are you swapping it out yourself? If so Good Luck, and have at least one helper as these boxes are bloody heavy. Read the manual first as there are a few nasty surprises.

This is a handy chart too GearHack: Subaru Transmission Chart

As long as the rear diff ratio is the same it will be fine
