As the title suggests i'm new to these parts.
I'm looking to buy a Scooby within the next few weeks to a month. I'm looking for anthing from a 95 WRX upto 2001 (not the bug eye), i've got 5-6K to play with and as abit of a toe in the warter exercise i was just wondering if anyone could help me out with tips on things to look out for and help me not buy a turkey
All help would be much appriciated thanks

Again, nothing wrong with the Bugeye!
Used to own a MY2001 bugeye, de-tango with Prodrive replacement headlights!
It never spent a day in the garage in 3 years.
I do like the classics though.

Im not the most mechanically minded person in the world, so I can only offer limited advice... but....
Having bought a few in the past I always make a point of checking the service history tallys up with the bills. They are high performance cars so its important they have been looked after.
Do an HPI AND a car checker. Together they will cover all the history issues you should know about.
Check for any orange peel paint effect anywhere, Imprezas do get knocked about a bit, and although a little bang or prang isnt bad in most cases some of them have been proper shoed into walls etc.
Ask about mods, If the owner has done them at home they should know enough about them to talk you through it. If its someone that states they just got the mod from halfords and bolted it on as it looked nice, think twice.
Go for a drive, make sure it feels tight, listen to the sound of the engine, knocks splutters etc.
There aer loads of good people on this site that know a millions times more than me, and I am sure they will offer the correct links etc, but I hope the above helps in the meantime.
