HELP!
I have just read the buyers guide in EVO and quout" a knocking noise undr 2000rmp is bad news"
Well my car has very recently developed exactly that AND has started to consume oil a bit!
Its got 100,000 miles on it but FSH?
If I go to my dealer (wo is ver nice) will it be huge bill time or should I go to one of the independant scooby specialits...or sell it.

I had a similar tappetty knocking sound on my MY94 UK car. It had 111,000 miles on the clock, and I went to a number of dealers.
General discussions led to the conclusion that there was no point in taking the engine out and doing some problem determination, as the car still pulled well ,and the noise went away after a hard run.
The cost that was suggested for a full top end re-build was circa £2K!! If I was you, I wouldn't worry about it until the thing goes pop. I've been told that this shouldn't happen until 150,000 miles at least with the earlier cars. Basically, don't worry about it!
Fingers crossed.
