Intercooler Widget
#1
Hello,
Someone was telling me today about an Intercooler Widget? that is what he called it.. !!
Takes a vacum from the brakes and causes a vortex in the intercooler making the air flow better and helps cooling and a cleaner burn??
About £45 apparently.... anyone know the details and whether they work? claimed about 2 to 3bhp...
Cheers

No but it is suppose to improve throttle response and mid range etc... I was just hoping that the 2 or 3bhp comment might jog someones memory and someone know what tghey are and whether any good etc..
Obviously not.
No worries

Nice try mate, but wrong The Ecotek does that for the air intake for the engine, not the air flowing into the intercooler. I should have realised that was what he was talking about though!
It causes the air to flow into the engine in a vortex, which makes the burn more controlled and more efficient. This means it can lean off the mixture slightly when cruising (better fuel economy). On power, it doesn't lean the mixture so you just get the benefit of the better combustion. I think the main noticeable benefit is the fuel economy - people have reported anything from 5-15% improvement, depending on how much cruising you do Have a look back through the drivetrain threads from a couple of months back as there were lots of posts about it.
Cheers

CB-26P's are used by the builders of racing engines and on a number of competitive touring and sports cars because they incorporate the same swirl technology used in Formula 1 Racing cars.
Allegedly:
Hydrocarbons down 4.8 %
Nitrogen Oxide down 17.1 %
Carbon dioxide down 21.0 %
Carbon monoxide down 27.9 %
Oxides of Nitrogen down 21.1 %
Fuel consumed down 21.8 %
WOW we can all learn alot today.
