Please can someone help me! I’m posting this here as well as technical in the hope I can get a speedy response.

My problem is this:
For the last six months I have had a loud whistling/hum noise from the engine that rises and falls with the pitch of the engine.

It is more audible when the engine is cold but is still there when everything is warmed up.

I got the dump valve changed but this didn’t solve the problem.

No one seems to be able to track down the problem.

Any ideas because it is literally driving me mental!

Thanks

Does it do it at idle in neutral as well as in gear? Could be a little air leak somewhere, have you checked connections etc on all hoses that you can get at? It could be as simple as that ... I'd check carefully around the inlet manifold as that's the most likely place for a vac leak. Good luck

There’s no whistle/hum until the car is moving.

Does a worn turbo bearing not sometimes whistle?

Owain McRae.
