Default Bye bye Subaru

I've had my WRX for 2 years but I think the time has come to call it quits. In the past 7 months, it's gone through 4 engines. I put the first one down to oil surge and starvation since I was low on oil. However I am hard put to explain the other 3 failures especially the one when an engine I was running in blew.

I think I'll move to a Celica GT-4 since I hear the 3S-GTE engine is bulletproof. Or if my wallet can stretch that far, maybe an Evo. Looking at the Celica forums e.g. on toyotanation I do not see every other page with a blown engine thread that's why I think I'll be safer with a Celica. Any comments welcome, I've really spent a lot of money and I don't want to spend any more if the results will be as they have been.

I am on my 3RD Subaru now and have never had any engine blown problems.

Must just be your car or your driving mate, no offence meant either.

what are you doing to the poor thing to get through 4 engines?!?

or have you got all the rebuilds done by the same place, and they haven't got a clue what they're doing?

I have had Subarus for 8 years and have never had one engine go pop, you have to be so unlucky for 4 in that time

Are you actually in Uganda? What fuel do you use?

Yeah, no mention on fuel used and modifications to the car, whether it's warmed up, whether the enignes are second hand when fitted, nothing.

Honestly, what sort of response do you hope to expect with a thread like this?

"Clost the door behind you?"

"Sorry to hear your misfortune"

"My 4 engines in 7 months - you're one unlucky dude"

Yes, I'm actually in Uganda and we don't have any idea what octane of fuel is available. Wouldn't help much since everyone must be selling the same kind since there's no significant price difference..

First engine was the original car engine, 2 engines were second hand and one was rebuilt. I don't think the rebuild was good, was going to try my hand at doing one myself when my wallet had settled down.

Car mods were boost controller set to 0.8bar, decat downpipe and that's it.

I'm really hoping the Toyota will last longer, I can't imagine not having boost or 4WD.

I put 60k of hard-ish miles on mine, never, ever missed a beat - brake disks where more this issue

Maybe you had a ****e dealership or whoever did the work?

Just read the Uganda comment, maybe fuel is your issue these cars are suseptable to poor fuel in ways maybe Toyotas arn't
