Why do they try and overtake each other on the A1 when it goes to 2 lanes!?
My Dad is a lorry driver and says it dont bother him trying to over take on fast roads like this!
Why try when you all have the ame top end

Some trucks are unladen and some fully/partially laden so the attainable top speeds on hills and even flat roads fluctuate

Not puting them all down coz of my dad, but when they try and over take each other at rush hour and take a good 5 to 10 mins to get past the other, it takes the p**s abit dont it!

But it takes miles for them to complete an overtake, which leaves a frustrated queue of traffic behind them.

I suspect that they care little for inconvenienced car drivers, as car drivers are the bane of an HGV drivers life.

i do it all the time and don't give 2 s..ts who behind me,if the wagon in front of u is doing 52mph and i am doing 54mph i will over take it else u are on/off the brakes for the whole journey pretty annoying, u have to keep it rolling else u will get no where......................
it p..ses hgv drivers off when bikes cut down your right hand side in the 3rd lane of the motorway in between a car and a wagon plan suicide in my eyes
also so many cars drivers think its clever to cut right infront of u from the left ie off slip roads just missing the bumper when in actual fact that is one of the biggest blind spots on an a hgv as u are so high up.... so it ain't just hgv drivers that are annoying.before critising try driving one.........as clarkson said this is harder than it looks lol lol lol lol

on a serious note,i wouldnt stay side by side of a wagon for that long but if there is a few mph difference then yeah i would have a go but can take up to mile to overtake , most lorry drivers do bk off to allow the other one in but not all.

You know when your overtaking, and you neck and neck with each other.......do you keep looking at each other, or do you but the neck brace on and look straight forward? Always wondered this, as I'd hate for the other driver to be watching me, lol.

As Im sure that youre aware, one or both of you can be prosecuted for making a rolling road block like that.

only if its proven to be deliberate, but if there was 2 mph difference between the 2 lorrys u would clearly see its not but would take time to pass. i wouldnt try and pass a wagon if we are doing the same speed but if i am creeping on it then i clearly can pass the lorry with enough space .next time u are driving down a motorway cruise at 54 mph and stay in the slow lane see how long u can hold it out for .

They should introduce incentives to encourage lorries to do all the driving during the night thereby getting rid of this issue. Maybe in the future with cameras they could monitor this and give rebates so the most profitable hauliers would those that utilised the night time.

would u like all your deliveries del to your door at night too, places like b.q tescos, matalan, etc etc all have to stay open at night to accept del to keep inpatient car drivers happy plus who wants to drive at night and sleep all day

there was one lorry trying to overtake me (In my scoob) on the M1 few months ago.... i was going around 55 - 60 ish in the slow lane...

then he comes up and overtakes me. then reduced his speed to 50..

so, i overtook, still on 55 ish... went quite far from him, few hundred yards, then back in the slow lane...

jackhead came up behind me again, started flashing his full beam on cuz i was going slow .. wtf, u were just going 50, now when i overtook, he does 55?

he p!ssed me off now i slowed down a bit more, he started overtaking, then i played with him a bit, not let him overtake, then he came in the slow lane again, i went 40 again.. he tried again and again and again... that went on for a good 15 mins until i was bored playing then i floored it..

watch him disappear

no I have a licence, I wasnt typing and driving

get yourself to the job centre chocolate and ask them if there is any hgv courses you can get onto, they will pay for you to do your hgv licence! it may not be what you want to do but it would mean money coming in.

J

p.s. it was me that infracted the lad above.
