Does anyone know what the 1/4 mile time on a P1 might be ?
also how has the quickest 1/4 time in here ?
I know that the enjoyment of a Scooby cannot be based on 1/4 mile times but im just interested after watching Fast & Furious

based on the fast and the furious, about 30 mins I think!!!

P1 from memory is 13.3 seconds officially? (could be talking rubbish here).

Road cars that do sub 10 seconds a stupidly fast, I doubt there is a scooby that can do it in this time.. (could be wrong)

I think top fuel drag cars do it less than 4!

that's quick!

Standard P1, 13 and a bit. Exit speed of around 105.

A 10s run is nuttily fast, you'd need some heavy mods on a P1 to get that... probably looking at needing 500bhp at the flywheel. Not a quarter mile expert though...

Daniel,

Not wishing to diss you oor anything , but where did you get 12.5 from? Proper timing gear, Santa Pod etc or self timing?

12.5 is v v quick for a std car.

Cool

Top fuel dragsters do the 1/4 mile in 5secs @ 300mph, with approx 6000 bhp

Thats in the UK, in the US I think they are into 4.5s with 330mph

If you havn't seen / heard / felt 2 fuellers do a full pass I strongly urge you to do so - its mad! So is standing 30 feet away when they launch without ear defenders on. Won't be doing that again in a hurry. Pardon?

It is the nitro that gets me.... feel that **** in the top of your nose, just before your eyes start stinging and watering....

I agree though, there is NOTHING to equal standing a few yards away from a pair of top-fulers running a combined 12,000bhp!!! The ground shakes, you can feel them in your bones...... then they go, the whole world gets blured and they are 1/4 mile away from you in about 4 seconds......

AMAZING!

At Santa Pod I have seen no standard STI or P1 get under 13.5s, on the right day it may be possible to get that down a little, but under 13s would be very, very hard. Stock Evo V/VIs get around 13.5s as well.

If you use one of the 'calculators' you need to take out a lot of weight - or take the power up by 50bhp to get comfortably in the 12s with a Scoob.

It's terminal speed which determines a fast car not the time it takes, obviously one goes with the other, but starts are grip are important for times on the 1/4 but bare not a lot of difference to the Speed. This is were the real cars are.

Over 100 is good
Over 110 is a fast car
Over 120 is very quick
over 130 us awesome

These are for Roadcars tho

Scott,

You'd be surprised how much extra power you need to make up half a sec down the 1/4.

Bearing in mind you must have at least 300kg of extra weight with all your tarts add ons, I think you're fighting a losing battle

IIRC about hrmphh years ago top fuel dragsters with 1000 bhp were just getting under 10 secs, and even with advances in technology you will still need in the order of 1000 bhp to do it.

So not in a scoob then

IIRC Rigoli has already hit a very high 9 hasn't he...and if he hasn't it's just a matter of time....didn't he do a 10.01 or summat?

I love the vid from his car....launching the beast at 8000+ rpm...

Sti Type Rs are quicker than P1s/other Stis because they have much shorter sprint gearing. I would imagine 12.5 secs is doable for a Type R, they get to 100mph in around that time I think. I wonder if the lockable diff helps standing starts? Anyone know?

Think you're getting 0-100 and 1/4 mile times mixed up.

Big big difference.

Red face

Tractor,

sorry mate - but I have run against standard Sti Type Rs at Santa Pod several times, although I was faster than all of them - it was marginal - in standard cars we were all getting 13.5-13.8, whether ordinary or Type R, same for the Evos some if which have very short gearing.

The time is dependent on horsepower - although Stef has always done better than you would expect for horsepower level at SP. And to get from 13.5 to <13s takes an awful lot of horsepower.

Russ Pullen did a 13.19 in his std (bar exhaust) STI RA - realisticaly the quickest accelerating Scoob.

12.5 as std - no way - unless it weighs 1000kg of course

Thing is Craig you need to have really big power gains to shave off over 3 tenths of a second

see

http://www.dpmotorsport.com/news/home.htm

for a 11.02 sec 1/4 for a GtiR. Their gearbox can't handle it and it was on an airfield but still wasn't bad for a shopping trolley.

I managed 12.58 @ 111mph but I think the terminal speed may be wrong. 60' was 1.77 sec.
