Default Mud Flaps Old Fashioned ??

Hi all was thinking about getting a set of Prodrive mud flaps or similar!!
What do you think? Do they make the car look old fashioned? as most of new cars now days don't have them.
Are they a bit Chav?
Must keep the car cleaner in this weather?
I have 2006 STI in silver any one got any pictures??

Exactly why I'm going to invest in some, my car is covered in mud from the scrapyard near me, the lorries trail cack onto the roads, it rains and my car gets sprayed with a mixture of mud, rust and oil.

No your dilemma. I also live down a lane in Devon thick with animal s**t, mud and fertilizer (stinks worse than s**t). I also have a silver hawk-eye and ordered a set of prodrive flaps in black to be fitted at my last service. Having got there and checked them over against the car and the price they gave the look which you are worried about to me as well and for 200+ quid I couldn't see the point so I asked them to send them back. Now the winter has set in she's getting covered up to the doors most days and I wonder if I did the right thing looks over practicality but I also agree with the last post will they really stop the dirt? Anyhow I keep the hose close to the front drive and just giver her a hose down morning or night before I leave the next day - cheaper too.

They may not do much for dirt, but they will significantly reduce stone chips on the lower front doors.

+1. Wouldn't be without mine. Bought second hand unused for a more sensible price too. They stop the stones flicking up and the dirt on mine.

got very bored with the mudflap look on mine a while ago, i cut the front ones down to a sort of splash guard size and to be totally honest the car doesn't look any different for it. no more stone chips and no dirtier than with a full flap

Pretty easy to avoid all the above ...dont fit them stupidly low (i.e leave 12-15cm ground clearance) ...use plastic fixings (number plate bolts work well) ...& dont reverse up kerbs!

As for dirt, cant remember the last time i used tar remover ...so they're stopping something!

I think there a must for classics.

The shape of the body near the wheels is a bit of a bad design. What your wheels pick up, They will chuck at the sides... I have quite a few lil stone chips around the skirt because i dont have any yet.. But will once i have a respray

OP:
If you think t'll look oldfashioned, buy red ones and embrace the rallylook, looks great on silver cars :-)
(I have black Rallyarmor urethane ones on my silver car, more old-fashioned roadcar looks, but still thinks it looks awesome :-) )

I have them on mine, despite going for the more subtle look as a whole. They make the car look lower and wider IMO. Worth investing in. They look rubbish (and a tad chavy) on any road car but an Impreza mind you... not sure how that works.

I went for the scoobyworld ones as they are good material. The cheaper ones tend to curl up and look awful.

I think they are a must.

I had blue on my sonic blue Impreza and i considered changing to red for the slag look.

My next Impreza will either be blue again or white. If its white it will have red flaps and probably gold or bronze wheels. Its the look I want

Mudflaps were pretty much the first thing I did to my classic, I got mine from Milsport though.
