Question how much for this wrx ppp wagon

its mine and am toying with keeping or selling-- all it needs is a bottom end rebuild/transplant or replacement.. so would suit a mechanic or people with friends in the know
it has been sat in my garage for over a month now as i purchased it and bottom end let go after 8 days after my regular commute home after work one morning. i immediately pulled over and got it recovered home and only started again for the recovery guy patrolman on these boards to confirm problem.. cambelt intact . car is std fair ppp no upgrades has 85,000 miles
plus stamped history. mot is 7/09 tax is out sorn as i was planning on having work done next year but have lost interest

it has minor scratches, a crack in the rear cluster lense protected with clear repair tape.everything works fine has good wheels/tyres and brakes with usual age related marks. sensible prices/ offers please

3 or 4?

Assuming another 3k for a proper reliable engine. Off the shelf 53 WRX wouldn't be more than 6.5K.

or perhaps a mechanic who can source an engine or rebuild bottom end himself will benefit most i have had quotes on engines[used] + reconditioned
guaranteed between 1 month and a yr and the most tempting currently is a guy in cardiff who will do the work completely for £1500 and guarantee for 1 year also so that's far better than most who have contacted me offering a swap for nearly £2000 but only offering a 1 month guarantee??!!
i will gladly pass on relevant info or you can check yourself .

From you last reply, I conclude that youre expecting to get far more than anyone will offer you. That being the case you may be better off having the car repaired yourself.

its apparently a weak and common problem on this engine .. and typical around these miles.. conclude what you want really if it makes a reserve then it sells its not overpriced and either way i lose money.. i am not desperate to sell but would rather pass it on than spend more money and still have to sell
ideally this scenario is good.
1- mechanic buys to work on = parts for rebuild no labour so he can then benefit from using or selling or both.. either way he wins.. i have accepted a loss but it has good value.
2-someone buys with a view to using as a project maybe get a forged engine and go for some serious power.
i realise the market for selling is poor but its not a lot of money really and although ebay isnt my first choice it hits a wider viewing audience
as its on pistonheads, northloop, here, ebay detailing world and cymraeg scooby club now. and has only been put up for sale in the last few days
so will see if its still for sale end november if so will have repaired and sell or p/x for an evo
