Sorry to ask on here but Subaru Technical Helpdesk are all at lunch from 12 - 1.30 !!!!
I have a P1 which has chipped very badly round the lip & front spoiler

Im lead to believe that they came with Armourfend fitted as standard. Is this true & can anyone tell me how much of the spoiler and lip was covered ?

Is the stuff fitted actually Armourfend & is it any good anyway ?

Cheers for your help
Paul

They did not come with Armoufend as standard as far as I am aware. It was available as an option from some dealers, standard at others, and that only kicked in after the first round of warranty claims..the original ones had none at all...
Spoke to a bloke Saturday who was offered it as a £45 option when his warranty replacement lip was fitted recently.

Hi Paul,

Mine came with with a clear `plastic` stick on protector - not sure what it is actually called. It only covers a very small portion of the lower front section of the lip. Seems to work OK although in 7k miles I`ve had no problem with paint chipping like a few others here.

I know of a source outside the dealer network if required.

Cheers

Hi Paul,

I got my P1 in aug 2000 and after 3 months spoiler was absolutely wrecked with stone chips. I went back to dealers and after being told 'Tat's normal wear and tear sir!' i kept badgering them and said it wasn't good enough on 31.5 k car and also that if there wasn't a problem with spoiler why did all the new cars have armourfend.
Eventually they resprayed spoiler and fitted armourfend under warranty free of charge.

Keep on at them it will get done eventually

You guys must drive too close!

Only kidding... the impreza paint seems to chip really easiliy and the huge P1 bumper and spoiler must be a magnet for chips..

Sounds like you might be able to get something out of the dealer or face a respray every few months mate.

hope you get it sorts

JGM

PS: Paul, might get around to fitting that echaust tonight

The later models were delivered with an Armourfend treatment the the leading edge of the lower spolier. Aftermarket kits, fitted or DIY, are available to cover a wider area including front of wings and bonnet.

A number of owners had resprays/replacements under warranty. Unfortunately it is not a solution as the damage returns as the miles mount

Some people seem to have less of a problem than others wheather that's driving conditions, style or paintwork is difficult to judge

Cool

Original chipping was down to a problem with paint. Had my front resprayed, armourfend removed as it was put on poorly and don't have any problems now....

Agree with all the above - got mine April lat year and it has the Armorfend (clear plastic covering stuck to bottom lip). Works fine and no real stone chip problems. Course the lip likes to kiss speed humps and the grills are turning orange.........

Gordo,

The little grills under the front idicator lights turning orange is a known problem and should be replaced by your local dealer.

The most irritating is that the dearlers are not being proactive with these problems.

I never did get to speak to you in the 'chat room' and I never determined whether you were the one I keep seeing around Fulham on home games?

So ..... Are you?
