Default Price of fuel today - what are you paying ?

As i'm sure everyone is aware by now,the price of fuel dropped today by around 5p a litre taking unleaded below 100p per litre.

Well,I have 2 Shell garages near me and i've just been to both of them. They have reduced the price of unleaded to 99.9p but V-Power has not been reduced,it's still 111.9p

How can they justify lowering the price of unleaded and diesel but not V-Power

What are you paying for V-Power ?

it all depends on the stock of fuel they have. if they bought in the v-power at 1.11p and they dont use much of it i would assume it will stay at that price until they get new stock at the lower rate. correct me if iam wrong but thats how i saw it anyway

That makes sense actually.

Last week I filled my Scoob up with V-power at 114.9p then went out 30mins later in the missus Vectra to fill that up and the price had dropped to 111.9p

That's why i'm considering swapping to tesco 99 but that means getting a remap aswell though.

If V-Power doesn't come down in price inline with the rest of fuel then they are really ripping us off

Shell stations don't buy their fuel in, they just take delivery from Shell, as far as I know.

There's a Shell storage depot in Jarrow, where do local Jet garages get their petrol from? Yup, Shell.

Shell dont lower the price on super because theyre profiteering. Unless sommeone makes a song and dance over their cheap SUL we will keep getting f*cked over.

Yeh that's been said on here alot recently. Tesco 99 by me was 107.9 so if they drop that by 5p to 102.9 but V-Power is still 111.9p then that'll make me leave V-Power and try Tesco 99.

Their such greedy ***** these petrol companies .
oil is now $70 a barrel !! In july it was $140 a barrel.
so why has the price at the pump only come down 10% when the oil price is now 50% less???!!!!!

I am pleased its come down , but its just typical of this country that we are still being ripped off.

Mr Brant knows more than I do, but it's to do with the amount of fixed duty we pay. So a 10% drop at the pumps may equate to 40-50% drop in oil prices.

I think

Tesco are worse! They charge as much as they can: if they tried this with bread and milk their shops would be burned down. Even where theyre competitive (really competitive, not simply 'no dearer than anywhere else') theyre still shafting us over the price of SUL. Their 99RON used to be 2p per litre dearer (max, sometimes only a penny) than 95RON when it was introduced in 2004; look at it now.

Tesco near me last night were charging 104.9 for 95 and 107.9 for 99 but I know what you are saying

I don't know how much of this is true but I spoke to someone earlier who owns a small petrol station/shop and he said all the local petrol retailers contact each other to check who is charging what so they can price accordingly. He said the wouldn't want to be selling fuel at say 102.9 when all the other garages in the area are charging say 108.9 which means he could charge the same as they are.

I would have thought you would want to set a lower price to get more customers but it obviously doesn't work like that

Im paying,

Esso- 1.06 for 95 ron / 1.13 for 97 ron
BP - 1.06 for 95 ron / 1.13 for 97 ron
Morrisons - 1.03 for 95 ron
Shell - 1.11 for 95 ron

The Morrisons has been closed for 2 weeks for new pumps to be fitted, so with a bit of luck the prices might be lower.
The Esso & BP are refusing to lower their prices until there reserves are used up.

I thought if it was mapped for V-Power then it should only be run on that !

I might try the Tesco 99 then and see what it's like. I know of alot of people recently who have stopped using V-Power and swapped to Tesco 99 because of the price difference

Do you find a tank of tesco 99 doesn't last as long as a tank of V power?

I have the same problem. Although I did notice a bit of a difference when I filled up with tesco 99.
