Lancasters at Sevenoaks where my MY01 will be serviced (15,000)next week say they havn't been told officially from Subaru yet about 10,000 mile services. They advised that I go with the 15,000 and they will let me know after that, for the next one.

Does that sound right? I thought it was now pretty much accepted that 10,000 miles or a year was the norm for ALL new shape cars

Comments?

Cheers,

Rich

I spoke to Paul Bond at IM technical regarding this, he confirmed that the letter went to all dealers on the 18th January. Seems some are interpreting it differently, I am in similar situation with differing info from 2 different dealers.

Just got this email from my dealer - and i got my car 4/1/01 so its gotta be for all MY01~ cars!!!

"If you could return your service book to us by post we in turn will return it IM and they will then process you a new book with the new and correct schedule and also your vehicles details in, they will then return both the new and old books to us and we will then return them to you.

Your old service book will be stamped "superseded" thus keeping a fluid audit trail of your vehicles history and keeping the warranty/service history both easy to follow and easy to trace in the future So your next service will be then stamped into your new book at 17k miles or January next year which ever is sooner
Could'nt be easier !!"

Jza,

sounds like you get good service. I brought my car from Lancaster in Sevenoaks and it is due a 6 month service (old intervals) at the end of this month. I've heard nothing from them. Does anyone have the reference number of the letter from IM Technical advising dealers of the change.

On a similar note I presume everyone would recommend an oil and filter change between the new intervals?

Cool

Well one compensation is I'm driving the new STI whilst the service is being done!! Hmmm...wonder if that's a good move? Will my car feel like a diesel Skoda afterwards?

LoFi,

I am lucky NOW i guess. Took a lot of moaning - heated discussions about their general lack of care once i'd bought the car etc before i got the service id expect from a dealership......

I tend to let them now stuff now - the servicing manager reckons i get the information before he does!!! So speak to your dealer and try emailing them "ive hurd x y and z" and they soon get the plot...

Good luck - and dont let them get away with that 6 month service cause you dont need it!! The letter went to the dealers on the 18th Jan 2002. That means they may just about react to it 18th Jan 2003!!!!

Rich,

Spoke to Lancaster Sevenoaks service manager (Paul) today who confirmed that he was aware of the interval change and I didn't need to have my end of Feb service done. So cancel that service, it's not necessary. I asked whether they were dealing with service books and he said letters would be sent when they receive further instructions from IM. Don't hold your breath though.
