Default What scoob can I get for 3K?

I'm a little out of touch with Impreza prices at the moment. I have had 3 classics before and loved them. (Never could quite understand why a sold the buggers ) I have around £3500 to spend and I am led to believe that this buys quite a bit of scoob these days.

I will be looking at condition rather than power. Looking at pistonheads £3000 should buy around an s/t plate uk turbo with around 80000 miles on the clock. Is this about right, or can I expect more?

Any help appreciated.

£3k will get you a good car, potentially a great car.
My 99 T Classic Turbo saloon was £2.5k with one owner and FSSH. It's done 100k, but drives really tight.
Its got a couple of hundred pounds worth of "dent mans" panel work, but it's a nice straight old thing.
If you've had them before, you won't need reminding of the need to be patient, I looked at 6 lemons before I found my one.
Good luck mate, but with the current climate, and £3k, you'll get a blinding car.

I was looking for one about 2 months ago, nearly got a 01 bugeye with 80k on for 3500 but missed out on that!! so then looked at classics with low miles on for around 3500-£4500, hardly any would budge on price and some looked (on paper) to have not been looked after, just a feeling I had
then seen a french reg'd RHD (was W plate) year 2000 wagon 1 owner with 115k miles
made a mad offer and bought it without seeing it!!
turned out well for £1500, would have cost me a few hundred reg'in it here in France as well

the thing that did it for me was it was totally standard and I noticed (off pics) it had headlight protectors on and it was at a LHD dealer so knew it was part ex'd for a LHD, this said to me it probably had been looked after
it had and I was a little lucky, done over 4000 miles in it and apart from the MAF its been bang on

you should be able to get a low mileage minter for your money
best to start with looking for one owner motors

The only issues I see with that car are looks like tinted fronts, dump valve, and not a late facelift model, ie no colour coding and possible ecu issues if remapping. I don'tlike oval exhausts either

Now if you had asked in June Chris...

Remember my tidy red uK turbo i had to sell. Gearbox, suspension and exhaust cost the best part of £3k, you'd have got the car for free

You must be joking! I got married on 31st of May this year. My bank account has only just started to stay in the black zone! Got a healthy bonus the other day and pay rise, so the fun can start again!

The Scoob has a good owner now, so I'm happy enough.

As you said to me your looking at a UK one because you like the suspension setup i'd still go for a s14a. Probably quicker as its rwd and have 220bhp as standard anyway I think. Think it'd be a lot more fun and its rarer as well.

The problem is finding a good, manual example for 3K, or at all actually!

Theres an MY99 on PH for £2.2K which I suspect is either a scam or hiding something.

I'd go upto 4 for a very tidy MY99/00 low number of owners, low - ish miles and cosmetically close to standard.

I'd like to hold out and get a V4 STI RA. I want DCCD and the little roof vent thingy - why I don't know, I just want it.

This I really like. Its on fleebay too

My biggest problem is space at the moment. I've got a Jeep Cherokee I'm trying to shift for £1500 (1999, 67K, black 4.0L should you wish to experience oil sheik style MPG )

The Jeep could go on a scoob but I could do with the money to finish my model railway (no, I'm not joking either!)
