Exhaust Help
Bought my car with a stainless cat back setup.
I've been looking to get a de-cat pipe to remove the two cats. I've said all along that apart from a potential remap (not for a while) this is the only real change I'd like to make, engine/performance wise.
Prices seem to be £100 - £200 just for that particular section of pipe, is there anything I need to watch out for? They all state they are stainless and on Ebay in particular they are doing the usual quotations of 30 to 40 bhp. Personally if it helps the engine out a bit, I'm not too bothered on the bhp side of things. Plan on running my 03 WRX well into the 100,000's.
Also with both cats removed, would i be right in assuming there will be an increase in noise (although thats not what I'm after)?
thoughts? this one in particular:
SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STi DE CAT DOWNPIPE EXHAUST DECAT on eBay, also Exhaust Components, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 31-Oct-08 20:02:21 GMT)
or if anyone is selling one, let me know! Any help, greatly appreciated.

o3 wrx will still have a cat in the up pipe so therefore still road legal.
as for that downpipe i bought one the full 3inch one tho but same thing really,
for my 55 plate wrx 300 and it was spot on and fitted really well.
i ran that with a scoobyclinic 3 in centre and back box, decat up pipe, sti top mount ,walbro 225, Andy F remaped to 294bhp and 300nm,
pretty good im told, car was great id recommend that you fitted a de-cat up pipe as well then job done. but when you do don`t refit the egt sensor in it. Greig hope this helps.

So this particular pipe, doesn't by pass them both? I thought with the length and angle of it (compared to others) that it might do both cats in one?
Is there one that does them all, or is it two pipes required?

Have you considered a Prodrive sports cat? I fitted one having removed the uppipe and centre pipe cats, this will still pass an MOT and makes a hell of a difference in spool up/ acceleration..
Doesn't really increase noise overall but gives a nice induction sound.
Be even better when I eventually remap it..

yes 2 pipes req the down pipe one usually removes the one in the down pipe and centre section,
the other pipe is from the headers to the turbo and is a short pipe and hard to do,
as for passing mot with just the up pipe in you should if the car is mapped well
i passed roadside emmissons test with just the up pipe one in.
