Question HAVE YOU EVER CLEANED YOUR MAF ?

IVE READ ON OTHER SITES ABOUT PEOPLE WHO CLEAN THEIR MAF WITH COTTON BUDS AND THROTTLE BODY CLEANER HAVE YOU EVER DONE THIS ? ALSO WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE COLOURED LABELS ? MINE IS PURPLE,AND HAS ANYONE TRYED USING NISSAN MAFS (SKYLINE 90 MM Q45 MAF PART NUMBER 22680 £60..SUBARU 90MM PURPLE LABEL MAF PART NUMBER 22680 £290)BIT OF A PRICE DIFFERENCE BUT SEEMS TO BE SAME PART.

Never tried cleaning it. But a new MAF for MY00 classic was about £80 if I remember rightly.

That was from a dealer too.

I cleaned mine with brake cleaner to good effect.

it would be silly not to try to clean it ,ive got nothing to lose its better than wasting money..cheers daz

Yeah, its green, I cant remember the significance of the colour dot though.

The garage mentioned it but I really dont remember....sorry.

Did mine the other day as the wire was quite black, used a cotton wool bud probably not the best but i checked that no fibres were left on the wire, I have used Isopropanol on other cars .......obviously you need to let this dry fully

I cleaned mine with brake cleaner and cotton buds, fixed the problem for a while.

Opted for a Simtek to kill 2 birds with one stone.

i cleaned my maf today ,there was an instant improvement,but it was very short lived,about 15 miles then back to being fooked,looks like replacement is going to be the answer but £290 thats a f*****g joke.

mine was fooked last year, car cutting out as soon as i revved it, had to get a tow home.
cleaned it with a cotton bud and wd40 and it was good as new,
no problems at all

You should only need the sensor and not the housing, I beleive it`s the housing that`s so expensive as the sensor is only about £80 as mentioned above. Try a local motor factor type place for a replacement Bosch item.
