Default Oil usage since Map

Hi All,

Since having the car mapped and running it on 10/40 fully synth (millers) I have found its using a litre every 2-3000 miles now.

No smoke or smells out the back or anything weird its just using more?!

Any one else found this since having theirs mapped?

Cheers

A remap will not cause a car to use oil in my opinion, wear in the engine or turbo is what causes oil use. I wouldn't consider 1 liter per 3000 miles to be massive oil use though. Jay

True, all turbos burn oil.

I guess its down to how hard the car is driven What I have noticed is everything runs hotter under the bonnet now - noticable by the heat from the engine bay when sitting in traffic! Car is de-catted so heat shields have all gone bar the one on the turbo and up pipe. Would the extra heat vapourise the oil a bit more?

The car used to use 1 litre every 6k previously which is well within tolerances - just seems to use it a bit more now! Obviously smoke/smells would be a give a away but theres none of that.

I would suspect with more right foot action it is oil 'blown' through the system and burnt... pull the TMIC and see if it is full of oil...

Its possable that on the standard map if it was running too rich, a small amount of petrol may have been getting into the oil keeping it at the max level, now its maped correctly and not too rich (as they are standard) the oil is no longer being diluted by as much petrol so the oil level falls ???
