De-cat, question for mechanics
Got a 1995 WRX and have bought a de-cat down pipe for it. I have been told that this is the only cat on the car as the centre section just has a resonator?? box, it was only UK models with a cat here. My question is when it comes to MOT time would it be easier to slip a cat in the centre section for the day as it seems easier to get to. Would it pass emissions with just a centre cat?? Cheers Tim.

You need to get it nice and hot to pass emissions so take it on a good run before turning up at the MoT station, then get them to test it asap.

My old my99 Uk turbo only had one cat and that was in the downpipe. Definatley not a cat in the centre section, just a resonater/silencer thing, and that was a standard system when I bought it.

I like the idea of just changing the centre section, but not sure now which models had cat in the centre section. Anyone got any ideas? How do other people pass emissions?

Right think I know what I'm doing. Fitting down pipe and getting hold of a centre section cat from a UK spec classic (and taking it to the MOT station hot!!). Sorry to do this but I'm new to all this, Question is the downpipe to the turbo joint face/face or is there a gasket? And does my 1995 WRX have a sensor measuring the exhaust gas - the de-cat down pipe has a tapped thread in the side? Cheers Tim.
