90K on a classic is when the belts need changing - probably why a lot of them come up cheap with this mileage ! If they have already been done, then no problem, but otherwise look at adding £500+ to the price depending on what other things need doing at the same time and where you get them done.

Other than checking for specific wear or damage, which can happen at any higher mileage then there shouldnt be any real problems.

My clutch finally gave up the ghost @ 90K, As said make sure the servicing is up to date because the cam belt and the major fluid change services are quite expensive.

Get it bought and enjoy, Mine is on 120K and still running strong @ 330BHP

I just got me a 1 owner 2000 (W) Wagon 115k, fsh upto 95k, most of its miles done in last 2 years, lots of stone chips etc but interior is like new, no rips or wear
done about 3000 miles in last 3 week of owning and runs great (fingers crossed)
just needed a MAF and air con re-gassing when I bought it

Going of this experience i'd say it depends how many owners its had
I was lucky I think, i only paid £1500

Get one bought, you cant beat it

Wifey had hers on ecar last year at £350, added a blobeye for the last 3 months for £100. Had the renewal thru £1600. HAHA PMSL do they really expect repeat custom with stupid renewals like that!!!!!! We are both over forty with full no claims FCS.

Now insured with Norwich Union Direct, MY97 minor mods (4 pots, prodrive zorst etc) for business use at £220 comp. Obviously does not include the blob, which we were lucky enough to resell for the asking price.

Sent all our info to A plan and Keith Michaels but neither of them replied. Probably nothing in it if they matched the Norwich union quote. So I thought, major insurer, £220, what the heck and signed up. Wonder what the renewal will be next year

Cars done abt 126000 now and not had a problem so far, except for a MAF going and the rear caliper problem I have now its been great , got mine with the leather bucket seats too real nice!

hi, ive got a classic uk spec w reg, im 24 (not usual boy racer type, i use, but dont abuse) and so is my partener both got 5 years no claims. we are both insured on impreza as she brings down the insurance alot. not had the impreza long but had to stay with the insurance and just pay difference as would have lost to much trying to cancel policy and starting a new one, ended up costing bout £900 with bell direct. Well worth every penny but will be searching around for cheaper when renewal turns up in may. Ill be 25 in june aswell so hopefully that will help also.

go for one that has been loved and cosseted, well maintained using quality products. not a cheap nasty abused example.

I would look for clutch, cambelt, tensioner, even the centre viscous coupling (££££). engine knock, slap etc.

Tyres, brakes (discs and pads) can be procured efficiently.

If its someone who has looked after the car you will feel it.

to be honest, i think the main problem will be rust starting on the rear arches

it gets in, at least on the 4 door cars, from the ****e rubber seals and plugs above the rear door latches.

the rubber seal has some metal inside, that rusts and crumbles like hell, letting loads of nice rusty water inter into the inner arch and start to rot them from the inside out.

you would be suprised how much has actually rusted on the inside (even if the outside looks fine and bubble free like mine was!!) when you cut the rear lips off and have a proper look.

mechanical stuff can all be fixed with ease so i would not really worry about it

Probably lucky to get 5k for it in the current market, mate. Criminal. It's a lot of car for the money!

Poo, just seen your in Kent I'm in Stockport, near Manchester! To be honest, I'm not sure if I want to sell or not at the minute - long story, but my girlfiend wrote her car off at the start of this year! She doesn't want to drive again, pretty shook up about the crash still (nearly lost her arm!!) so I'm driving her to work, shopping etc... I really need something a bit more practical for this sort of thing, but I really don't wanna get rid! Heart says no, but head says yes
