Default Newbie advice please!

Hi everyone,

1st post on here. I have been racing in the caterham academy this year and loved every minute. But sadly can not commit the time or funds to it next year. Now i am i the fortunate position that the girlfriend is a petrol head so have been told that if the caterham goes it must be replaced with something!!! Now I have been a fan of impreza's for years so now is the time. I know what you are all thinking, complaining i can't afford to race then buying an impreza! Well the plan is to by an early ish type RA and turn it into a road legal track car. Benefit being I am not commited to being at a track every other weekend and can upgrade it as and when I can afford to.

So, simple question really. What do you all think to my choice of base car? Long term aim is about 350-400 bhp I hope. Any particular year car I should look for or one to avoid?

Thanks, advice welcome

Ben.

There was an early RA up for grabs in the for sale section with a forged engine, pretty cheap to if i remember rightly.
