Default How hard to get <98 import registered?

As heading. Seen a car I like but is still in Japan. Been quoted the full on road price but was wondering if it would be that much cheaper to do it myself?

Car is priced at 6400 but on road price is 7100. Not a big difference I know but would it be worth doing it myself or too much hassle?

Over ten years old you need to add a rear foglight and an MOT. After that the only expenses are six month (min) tax and a registration fee.

pay the extra bud. then if it fails the mot they foot the bill for the repairs. youve got £100ish for road tax in that price and £45 mot and £65 reg fee and £5 fog lamp and £20 reg plates etc etc.
if it fails on tyres for example, they cost £200ish for a pair.

Sounds a bit expensive. What is the spec?
Having bought unregitered cars in the past it is usually quite an easy process if they are 10 years or more and as pointed out above they do not require an SVA. Speedo conversion, rear fog light, fuel tank restrictor if you can be bothered and an MOT then present the import documentation, car documentation, MOT certificate and certificate of insurance at your local DVLA office and take some reading material especially at the beginning and end of a month.
Getting an SVA requires a bit more work and time.

Make sure they don't just cut a hole in the bumper & install foglight there ... looks awful IMHO yet seems to be standard practice. They did it on my wifes DC5 much to my

TX.
