Do you mean MY03 STi Vs MY05 STi?

If so then MY05 is better as it has DCCD and wider track, also have Variable Valve Timing.

v7 has the strongest engine of any impreza ever built. forged pistons. forget your v8s, v9s go for the bugeye with the strongest engine internals ever. these engines can handle 450bhp plus without problems.

I have had a bugeye,(first V7 STI WAGON in the UK) hence my user name. And never had any probs in 3 years of ownership.

I'd go for the 2.5 lump. But your car is stronger.

MY05 STi has forged internals, it was when Subaru changed to the 2.5 in the MY06 that it came with the hyperblahblah (can never spell it) pistons

I give up the best way is to buy the Japanese version then you can guarantee forged bits.

I was always under the impression that the V7 was the weak link in the STi family..... no only for its looks, but engine.... they arent very popular in Japan, the Blob eye is considered a much better car, often used in competition..... plus all the bugeyes go very cheap over here in Japan.....
There must be a logical reason why....

didnt they stop putting forged pistons into the sti's from the 7 onwards???
