Default too much oil is it bad

hi all, quick question, about the wifes fiesta. noticed a trail of oil on the floor from the wifes car and im pritty sure its oil. if it was water then it would have dried up.
i checked the oil last week and it was showing as low so i put a bit in,then when i checked again it was over the full mark, and now it seems to be leaking from somewhere.

is too much oil bad??
will it be ok till monday as the car is booked in for service

Normally you should check the oil level on flat ground before running the engine. If you checked the level shortly after the car had been run or if on unleveled ground then you can get a false reading from the dip stick. Overfilling can be a bad as not enough oil if it is excessive, in extreme cases actually damaging engine parts.............I would let the car stand overnight then drain or Siphon some of the oil out to the Max Mark on the Dip Stick and see if the leak stops.

Overfilling by about 1/2 litre or so wont do any damage IMO. As said once the car is hot the level will rise past full anyway. Best to check the level when the engine is cold and has been stood. Then pull the dip stick out and leave it out for a few mintes (this lets the dipstick tube drain down and avoids a false reading), then check the level.
Are you sure you havnt just spilt a bit on the drive when you were filling it?
Dont think the worse, im sure it will be fine. Them fiestas can put up with all sorts of abuse. My mates did anyways
