Anyone Used Well Lane tuners in Batley????
Literally as it says in the title, i'm in Hull and looking into re-mapping options and a couple of owners in the area I know have had theirs sorted out at Well Lane Turbo Centre in Batley Leeds. Has anyone had any experience of these, good, bad or indifferent. As I understand it they are superchip tuners, i've read numerous threads on remapping and am led to believe that ECUTEK is the way forward. Are these the same/similar better/worse to/than superchips??
Any help, advice/feedback would be greatly appreciated.....cheers.

i've been a couple of times to their rolling rd, not sure about their tuning skills. the feel i got when i was there was that their more ford orientated. ecutek is a better option than chipping. their is a few specialist mappers that'll travel to you for mileage expenses. jgm came up here to me although i met him at york as he was mapping two of us at the same time. i'm from hull now too

cheers for that, think i'm gonna go with the ECUTEK as I think everyone has good experiences/results. There are 2 of us looking into a remap in Hull so hopefully we'll be able to get a deal with a travelling mapper. Thanks again.

Used to use Well Lane a few yesrs back for my RS fords, apart from a suspect owner they were spot on.
My car's engine blew 2 and a half months into a 3 month warranty and they rebuilt it FOC in no time at all.
The Racing Line in Halifax have a good ecutek rep and they are pretty decent chaps, think they might be slightly Evo orientated though.

Going back a few years now when I had my fiesta RS. Took it to well lane for a tune, seemed great at first until I really gave it some serious stick and the engine went bang. Took it to a tuner I should have used first time round and he thought the ignition timing had been advanced to much???

Sounds good to me - My mate is away for the next 3 weeks so I'll get in touch with JGM and yourself if you're still interested and we can maybe try to organise from there. Nice one.

Remember reading off this company way back in the cossie / rs turbo days, so yes think thay do tend do a lot off work on fords.
can I just ask why so many scooby owners are against the whole idea off superchips etc ?? appreciatte that way back again in the cossie / rs turbo days these type off chips were claiming mass power increses ie. in some cases + 50BHP. now the " superchips " brand has been around for a long long time now, can anyone explain just why they are considered such a bad thing to have on a turbo charged car ??

I'm no expert, but any form of 'generic' map is always going to be compromised, even the Prodrive ones in the PPP's. Superchip are reputed to be quite crude, maximising as many parameters as possible to achieve the biggest power hike with no consideration to reliability or consistency across the rev range. ECUTEK and others are tailored to suit each specific vehicle, its engine, mods, gearing and whole performance make-up, allowing safety margins to be applied if requested. As an example, when I had my current car (VAG TDi engine) mapped they were asked to feed in the power progressively from 2-3k revs to protect the clutch, and to taper off fuelling above 4k revs to reduce sooting and protect the turbo. An off-the-shelf chip could never cater for that. I had quite a few mates with STi PPP's, one of which was stunningly fast and superb to drive, another which was a pig and was derided as 'the worst map I've seen' by Richard Bulmer (then at TSL) when he corrected it.
