Default Small dip stick next to turbo

I was checking fluid levels today as the car was in for a service last week and wanted to see if everything was ok. What is the wee dip stick for on the right of the turbo (looking at the front of the car)? Is it the gearbox? When I checked its level it was way below the min mark, thought Subaru should have done this???

Cheers.

You drain the gearbox via a plug on the bottom of the box itself I believe.

Fill it usually with great difficulty and mess But seriously, you fil it with a funnel through the dipstick hole

Yeah as every one else says, Gearbox.

There are 2 gear box drain bungs.

One where the front Diff is and the other is on the side of a little sump.

You have to remove both or you wont get all the old oil out.

But filling is a right tw@t to do.

Funnel with a hose on the end of it.

Would of thought your dealer would of checked it when it was in for a service.

To refill its easiest to use an oil syringe - e.g. CGG500 500cc Oil Suction Gun - Lubrication & Fuel Transfer equipment - Machine Mart

Yeh I thought Subaru would have done it too, especially when I paid them £400 for the privilage! I shall be on the phone first thing tomorrow wanting an explanation. This is making me wonder now if they actually gave me a new oil filter or just cleaned the old one. I should have marked it before it went in.

A syringe is a good idea, shall remember that one. Cheers Guys.
