Hi people, I just need some help on choosing which engine oil to use for my06 Impreza WRX.

Making a long journey from Wembley to Reading tommorow and need to top up.

Looking to buy Shell Helix, think it was 10w-40 or 5w-40, can't remember exactly.
Is this ok as just a quick fix, as I'm getting the car serviced (10k service) in a couple of weeks time anyway so just need to top up until then.

If not, could someone recommend an engine oil that is available to buy from say Halfords or a petrol station please.

PS. I don't drive the car that hard, just the occasional heavy right foot, but nothing to major, if this helps.

Hi Tony, if its not stated on the bottle that its Semi how would i know? Are all oils [ 10w40 etc ] semi synthetic?

It does state on the bottle its semi synthetic, it should be called shell helix plus then have the semi synthetic in smaller letters further down the bottle
