Yeah I downloaded the PDF for viewing, Its hard to work out if the plans have actually been approved or only approved in principle,
Only there approval was if there was a relief road built before hand which doesnt look like it will now as it was going to be built by David willson homes but as the market is there not to bothered about the estate they had planned and then the extra road it had agreed as part of the plans.
there is a lot of work to be done in a short time so ud hope they can get it all approved asap,

Hmm, pits completely relocated. I can see presumably them having to chop some trees down in the new infield section: will that follow the contours of the land? I like it and hope it all works out.

By the way: can we assume that this means Donington will be closed to all events for a lengthy period of time? Does anyone know when yet?

Id hoped that theyd include more of the old circuit, which they used to call the Melbourne Loop.

That's still there (the worst bit in my opinion).

Its never been part of the modern circuit. Look on the plans: if you look carefully yuoll see the old loop as a white outline, which continues on beyond the current hairpin. The original hairpin was used for autotests and such I think, during the eighties. I attended a couple of events which used it: and the remainder is now used for a Sunday market.

According to details in Motorsport news, the new section on the infield is going to have a steep gradient as they go round the left hander to the hairpin, then an even steaper gradient coming back up to the existing start finish straigh.

Plans have been submitted for approval. Based on their time scales they are saying they need approval by November to start work. Hope it all works out. I love Silverstone as I used to go there loads.

Donnington though is a good track, with the new start finish straight to Melbourne could see some great overtaking . Hope this works out and is a spanking circuit, just to annoy Ecclestone, who seems hell bent on ditching the British Grand-Prix .

If you look at this link you can see the current circuit from the air and the old circuit can be clearly seen too.

Castle Donington Circuit - Google Maps
