I don't know mate - i have no idea what they do or how they affect stuff under the bonnet.
Im a complete idiot when it comes to technical stuff with cars.
Maybe the fuel consumption is just generally carp
Not that im complaining because every gallon is worth it !

They have a re-circulating air bypass valve as standard (the correct name). A 'dump valve' as described here is a VTA air bypass valve. The clue is in the description of the noise made...

Basically, the ones fitted and recommended for Scoobs "dump" the metered air back into the system whereas the VTA, or vent-to-atmosphere type just dump the compressed air, so that the car fuels for more air than it receives, causing bore wash, poor fuel consumption, and possible cat damage.

Your car, your decision.
But before making it, ask yourself why NO respected tuners from Prodrive on down will recommend, or use a VTA d/v.
There's always someone who will tell you to "go for it, fit a vta, my car is OK", but it's not HIS car YOU need worry about.
If you do a search on here you'll find a few folk who have taken vta d/v's off and seen better running.

I had a Turbsmart VTA on my car when I bought it, I replaced it with the OEM recirc valve and now have an uprated after market recirc valve. The VTA was by far the worst as not only did the noise get on my **** after a while but it also felt a but juddery when idling or in low revs.

Ive got a 50/50 recirc and atmosphere turbosmart Valve and it works just fine, gets some of the air so less over fuelling. It comes down to risking damage to your engine for a noise.......I like the noise so ill take the risk
