Sound deadening material?
Can anyone recommend any sound deadening material that you have put in your Scoob?
I have a 2004 STI and would just like to dull down the noise a bit when on the motorway.
Nothing too expensive if possible as the noise isn't too bad but just to make it a little more comfortable

Dynamat Xtreme and Damplifier pro (second skin?) are both very good but expensive. You are probably best doing the boot first, then probably the footwells and front doors. I think you might be looking at about £200 to do all of that, maybe £60 - £80 for a 'trunk' kit alone?
Original Dynamat is ok, but with the cheaper stuff you need more layers to get the same effect, so in reality not much cheaper.
Search on ebay for bulk packs.

Hhmmm, not cheap stuff really is it! Not sure I really want to spend nearly £70 just to do the boot??
I did see some cheaper stuff on eBay, but I suspect this would be a case of you get what you pay for with this type of stuff?? i.e. 30 Ft eDead Original Sound Proofing Deadening Dynamat on eBay, also, Other In-Car Ents GPS, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 15-Sep-08 10:00:50 BST)

Dynamat and brown bread are excellant for sound deadening. The trouble is it costs a fortune and if you want to do the majority of the car it will add a lot of weight.
Have you thought about a quieter exhaust system? Seems weird asking this on a scoob thread. But it would probably be the cheaper option.

The eDead material in the ebay link above is pretty much the same as Dynamat, but not as ludicrously overpriced...
A lot depends on whether the noise the OP is objecting to is road noise or exhaust noise. The butyl mass loaders like eDead/Dynamat stop panels vibrating, but a lot of tyre noise comes in via the doors. In those cases an adhesive foam cuts a lot of the hiss and roar. Dynamat plus foam is even better...

I would just like to cut down the general road noise and dull the exhaust note a bit. This is really just for when I do the odd motorway trip.
