Chips how much do they devalue your car

I've just discovered a big f*ck off chip in my bonnet. It must have been when I was on the motoway today. It's really deep and really obvious. Im so annoyed I've really looked after my car it's 7 months old now but didn't have a scratch on it. I want to trade it in after my 3 year finance deal is up and get an STI but my question is how much do chips in paint work affect the trade in value of the car. Also how much does it cost if you want to get these repaired.

IANAD (I Am Not A Dealer) but I'd prefer to buy a car with stonechips on it rather than one that a dealer's had a quick blow-over spray-job done on. At the end of the day, it's going to get stone chips after you've bought it anyway.
