Default Insurance

Hello Guys , renewed my car insurance today * Tesco *
£471 for the year on my STI 03.

I asked out of curiosity what it would cost to insure if i fitted the PPP pack
The reply was almost £900.

Any of you guys insuring your scoobs with the PPP pack ?
Can i be cheeky and ask what sort of money you pay for this.

It may well be that Tesco are okay to insure unmodified cars but as soon as you modify them then they are just not competitive.

I'm already running a decat and the usual mods to see 340bhp, i just thought it might be wise to say i have the ppp pack as opposed to go into the relms of remap and fuel pump etc.

I did say i have fitted a stainless exhaust to the car but nothing else.
its not like you can see the remap visualy anyway.

I am only asking as lots of cars up this neck of the woods are getting stopped at the sight of big exhausts etc.

Regards.

Chris

I got a quote from A-Plan (who I'm insured with just now) back in April for an 03 STI with the PPP and a stainless exhaust and it was gona cost me about the £600 mark. Cheapest of everyone I tried. Saying that, I do live in Inverness which may be cheaper.

Hi m8 , i also have tracker and the car is garaged , does about 6k a year.
I just can see how they get from £471 to near £900 for the sake of 40bhp ?

I live in a nice estate full of old people.

I know what you mean, insurance is a mystery. I think its probably to do with the word "modified", they don't seem to like it. I would have given them the £600 no probs but couldn't sell my WRX to get the STI.

I pay just over £600 for my 05 STI with PPP and modified exhaust, with Keith Michaels (garaged car, 5k miles/year). The PPP doesn't make any difference to the premium with A-Plan or KM...

Got a quote with Keith Michaels and they were a ripoff (by a extra £300) compared to a highstreet insurer.

So im with a non specialist mainstream one.

When an insurance company tries to bolt on a big additional chunk of money to your policy that tells me they no nothing about PPP which means they don't know about the business they are trading in. Sorry, don't deal with cowboys. Would'nt trust em to ensure a shopping trolley.
