I thought it was good considering that didn't have that points of 25 crap.

CTR looked good round the track even though it was pissing down with rain.

Cool

Hot hatches pah!!!! They're all mere pretenders compared to my Metro GTA (K-Series) which makes my Scoob seem positively sluggish around town

Seriously though, it was a great show, the best for quite a while. Considering it had the quickest total, but the slowest to 40 I guess the Type R really goes when the revs are up. Couldn't understand why they all thought the Corollas brakes were the best though, as its braking times were not in the same league as the Clio and CTRs

Cool

I think that the reason the 0-40 was slow would have been down to two things:

1. Wet roads - they may have used second to pull away. Doesn't wheelspin as badly as first
2. If they did use first then they would need to change up at 30ish, might have slowed it a bit.

But you're right, when the VTEC comes on at 5500rpm it's like a screaming turbo kick. I just have to wonder what the original ITR was like!

What were the braking times? I thought the Toyota was fastest to zero.. maybe not, I just get a bit too excited when these things are on.

No, they didn't use second - you could hear by the revs. I would have thought with 9000rpm (nearly) on top from the Civic and Corolla that they would have hit 40mph in 1st - the Scoob is not far off (38mph?)

They all looked quite fun though, but for me I prefer great slugs of torque at all revs rather than waiting to be deafened before I get any decent power, and suffer a drone on motorways

Well i thought it was very good.

The funniest bit was when they said to the blokes testing them "Why dont you like the Toyota" and one said "well just look at it". Hahaha.

Will agree that the CTR's engine is outstanding, and also that the Clio's handling is exceptional. Close one really, all depends if you want a mutated mini-MPV or a hairdressers car really

I will stick with the Clio for a while i think.

Oh Laurence, the kick from the original ITR was AWESOME.

Plato round the last bend at Castle Combe - **** me how out of shape was he when he hame into camera shot! Fantastic viewing.

Swap the drivers over and I'm sure the outcome would have been the same - Plato 1st

Haven't enjoyed a motoring program so much for a very long time.
The Castle Combe bit was utterly fantastic. I'd like to have seen them set times separately too - I think the Civic was being held up for a while before Plato got past and would have been even quicker over a clear lap.
Interesting to see how comparatively slow the Civic was to 40...

I'm off to work now, Ok so the road's wet but I think that 0-40 still needs testing out.

Oh and just check that my VTEC cams are Ok as well.

..and make sure that the cornering hasn't suffered overnight.

Watching the type r and the s2000 together did make for great viewing but I was a little worried watching the 3 blokes test driving the cars. I expected the gear sticks to be ripped out with each change. But ofcourse it made them quicker

Hmmmm.

Just look at the guys testing the cars!!

I thought that the guy with the rollneck top & overt jewellery was the personification of Max Power

Cracking edition of Driven though. If only they could get the programme to be consistently this good.

Yer it was a good program as that dozy bird wasnt in it. I also agree that if Plato was driving the S2000 he would have won - would have been more accurate if hed done avg timed laps in each car but obviously the way they did it was aimed at entertaining the viewers. It just goes to show how much difference the driver can make.

I agree with their choice but none of the cars tested looked mean. The corolla looks like a birds/hair dressers car and the Clio is plain fugly. Pity they didnt test more cars like the MG-Zr and Audi S3 which are my fave hot hatches plus say the 206 GTI, VW Gold 4Motion etc for a bit more competition.
