That may have been correct in some recent cases, but those threads weren't locked!
If Pete is going to sell/post/state anything bitching goes with the territory
You couldn't give him a winning lottery ticket without getting abuse. The key point is the seller wasn't bothered by the banter.

The best thing that could have happened for Pete was for the thread to be locked. Look how much free advertising he has got. If you want people to look at something ban it

You are right Pete. It is a weeks wage, or just under.

Question

What one person finds to be acceptable banter may well be rude and abusive to another.

Golden rule no 1 if you are selling a car on Scoobynet - to avoid "it isn't worth that, my Auntie Nellie's best friend's brother Fred sold one for half the price blah blah" comments, DON'T post the price, but invite an email conversation on the subject.

Even better rule Dave. If you are not actually interested in buying something on a thread don't post.

Mr Manchester. If you can get such a car for half the price please supply me with two a week (my weekly wage). Put your car where your mouth is.

Dave,
Call that cheap!
I know where you can get three for that price.

All of the punters want rally blue, takes ages to shift that colour and of course if you are prepared to wait you can save a bundle on an import.

Now the Sti's in the showroom residuals are gonna plummet. If I wait six months I'll be able to get a low mileage one for the price of a large scotch.................

I think it's due to the number of sellers bitching about people commenting on their cars (ie "That's way too expensive mate, I know a bloke who bought one for half the price")

I am a lot more sensible and careful than I used to be - am I not?? I cant see how the banter (all fun!!) could have upset anyone?? I was the one getting slagged off - and it was GREAT!!

Pete
