Steve,

Looks like you've got a few problems to address for Alcobury. Hope you get them sorted in time

180 (+/- 3mph). Did 172mph last year with 100bhp less and a mild launch (due to standard diff). No such probs this year (I hope!)

Steve,
Don't make the same mistake as I did and overgear it....

If you get 170, I will be WELL impressed, as the Escort isn't exactly the most aerodynamic car. 0-157mph in under 19s is so I can remember several Novas (1.3s etc) doing the standing quarter in that time....

Mike, its more like 158 in under 19.

If it helps you gauge, on the clarkson video some time back, despite them all being fixed, the tvr cerbera 4.2 did a standaing kilometer in 30 seconds.

I would have thought you would beat the time you predict as 1 kilometer is 5/8 of a mile so isnt far out.

Mike,

I seem to remember a good friend of mine have a little tit for tat with you at the last event, in a certain ( broken ) R33 !!

I hope that the next time Ruperts new and improved 700 + bhp is good for the competition !!!

I think Dingy will hit 50mph and melt down....due to the engine builder being incompetent or is that impotant...

Mike you car wont beat them cars entering that use FSE power boost valves......i suggest you get Harvey to fit one, along with a K&N group A cone filter....and FFS take that massive stereo system out your car...that was why you only made 395 at wheels........

If you have a look on www.gtr.co.uk - It has been dynoed at 650ish with a 2.8 conversion and a T78 turbo... Since then the pressure has been upped to 1.8 bar and the block strengthened to take it..

On the 'bench' the engine ran at 710bhp - so this is a realistic figure !

I imagine that young Mike here will get a little shock - Buy Jap thats what I say !!!

Yup and so does aerodynamics, however 200mph + is achievable with this power in a Skyline http://www.gtart.co.uk/Skyline.htm so me thinks that the cossie power is going to be lacking...

Paul i drove a R33, was one of the worse cars i have driven, very dull.

was 400bhp same as my escort, and cost 5 times the price, yet was slower

Each to there own.

Dingy,

I get your point, but the R33 is awsome - it doesn't drive itself or anything else, and with 700 bhp it is gonna be fun..

The difference is in what the cars were designed for !
Scooby - Point to point rally car
Skyline - more of a GT
Escort - ... Sensible family car ???

I don't know the individual cars involved, however i do know that it will be a good day, and the big engine big bhp I'm sure will win the day ..

Look forward to seeing you all !

ps: I wil be in the very very quick black R33 !

Cool

Paul78,
Lets say it IS 710bhp. It weighs nearly 1700Kg (gross wet weight) , so still "only" has a power to weight of just over 400bhp per ton, it is also LESS aerodynamic and has the extra transmission drag to lug around (I know it is in 2wd mode most of the time, but it seemed to make a difference last year, with not ONE of the 500+bhp Skylarks breaking the 170mph barrier).

So, I think it will still be VERY close....

Mind you, given the fact that my engine has now done nearly 18k, it is the one that is likely to go bang instead of the Skylarks....

Dingly,
Ima is JOKING....
LOL

It seems alot of the Jap car owners are into gay bondage.....because they obviously like a good beating by a male cossie driver...

Mike i was not joking...

Well my money is still on the Cossie's to take the 1.2ml, but against my better judgement, I'm going Jap for the 1/2ml, and the track.

It's going to be a fun day, even funnier, if it's wet

1.2 mile - due to reason that Mike has explained isn't ideal for the R33 ( as has been discusse many a time previously - 1.2 miles is not top speed ! ) and the Scooby just havn't got the power, something German at the 200 + club may suprise a few people however, and if its wet then the Sklines will murder everything ..

Let hope for rain - HE HA !

I think we'll have to knobble the 243mph Porsche

Simon has said that there are going to be a couple of 400bhp Scoobs there, so it should make it a little more interesting.

Mike,

Its less of an art in the Skylines - dial in 7000 rpm and dump the clutch and hope that everything hold together...

But I agree Mark - perhaps Ima, can challenge him to a race on the way and 'somehow' get the police to carefully follow him again !!!

All in all - I cannot wait, just pissed off I can only be a passenger - 210bhp is no good really !!

Good luck to all involved, let hope nothing expensive happens to anyone !

Sorry but my money is firmly on the porsche. If you have read the EVO mag board you would know all about it and its owner . I think its won ultimate street car for the last few years . A serious piece of kit. The guy also had a 1000bhp koenig testarossa and sold it because the porsche was quicker .

cheers

Mike you are banned from going to your local gay club the day before..we need you to be able to sit in your car without it feeling uncomfortable.

And a speed of about 170, i hit about 155 in half a mile so should be about right.
