Default Urgent brake help needed

I put this up in the brake section but got no joy so thought i'd try here.

My rear brakes have started making a god awful noise when i brake (think it's the shim thing making contact with the disk to tell me my pads are low) So i need new pads on the rear but thought while i was at it i'd do the disks as well.As i don't think they have been done in a long time.

Q1 are the rear disks and pads as simple to do as the fronts or is there alot mor work because of the drums.

Q2 do i need to do the drums as well. the handbrake travel is near the top so is it just a case of adjusting it or should i replace the drums.

Q3 i've got ebc red stuff pads on the front at the moment that also need to be changed but i want a diffrent pad what are my best options.

Q4 what sort of price would i be looking at for the front and rear pads and the rear disks

Sorry if some of my questions seem dumb but i'm not mecanicaly minded so need all the help i can get lol

Any help would be fab

Default rear brakes

The rear discs and pads are as easy as the front so wouldnt worry. Doubt if the handbrake pads will need changing just adjust them

The rear pads are as easy but the rear discs are harder. Doable but harder.

No worries about the handbrake drum, it's all built into the rear disc, the drum forms the bell in the centre of the disc. Change one and you automatically change the other.

To get the rear disc off you have to retract the rear handbrake shoes before the disc will come off. You do this via a gynaelogical operation thro a small hole in the back plate. Details have been posted many times on the brake section, I'll have a hunt and try and post a link.

Thanks for the replys guys! very helpfull. My best mates dad is realy good when it comes to anything scoob related so i might ask him if he can do the rear disks and pads and i'll watch so i know for next time. looks a bit too much for me to have a crack at on me own. Think i'll just stick to the fronts

Darren. nice one
