Default Insurance shocker

just thought about getting a bugeye as wanted to have a change from the classic
i bought a classic, my brother copied me!!
so want to be different from him again!!
currently have a uk turbo classic
insured in wifes name as she owns (and actually drives it more than me due to the mileage i do to work and back every day)
she is 34 had licence for 16 years
im 26 had licence for 5 years
no points for either of us
8 years no claims protected but i wrote the last uk turbo off in january after the wheel bearing collapsed and to cut a long story short the car was no more, vehicle inspected and blame placed on mechanical malfunction and policeman said i did well to cause a major accident.
been on confused. com and cheapest i can get for insurance on the bugyeye was £600 on there, now lots of people might be thinking after a claim and that £600 was not that bad, well i was paying £280 last year for the classic and gone up to £338 for renewal after the accident
just went on moneysupermarket.com and got the bugeye quote for £349 with £500 excess, is it worth me trying any specialists or am i not gonna get anywhere near that?? might try the sti and see what that comes in at!
